Hi Mikael, We do in fact have a prototype that we can show. I'm on the road tomorrow (working) for a few days. Eric has the sample. I think we can get a photo posted next week. I must say that your persistence is impressive. (nag, nag, nag ;) ) sal Great news Sal, don't let the lack of posting fool...

Regarding the colour I would think a discrete blue colour wins over orange, you easily spot a knife with orange handle. I must admit I had hoped for a small sprint run of g-10 handled knives from Colorado, I don't know what numbers you need to produce them in, but I think selling them in the rest of...

If they have to open-close it 6000 times to check the backspring heat treatment then late in 2012

I feel sorry for your plight gyssedk. A life without my favorite Spydercos would be a dull one indeed! It kills me how these ultra-liberal governments impose draconian legislation on their own people, yet never have....or arrogantly care less about giving... an explantation as to why it all ends in...

I just returned from a small vacation abroad so i willl be following this thread and case again. I have contacted the Danish DOJ and and i have some people in Denmark with experience in similar matters looking in to the project, so with time i should be ready to present the information, and god wil...

If you are happier now after all that negativity, good for you. There is no way I can influence the knife law here in Denmark. So I'd rather live a life with legal spydeco knives, than live without, just to show my anger. Nobody would notice. We have to design new knives, that push the law. Most Da...

So, you live in a place where anyone can carry anything they wish? If so, where is this wondrous place? I think that must be Austria, I recall them being very open minded in their knifelaws... A Spyderco SLIPIT that is legal in Denmark will probably only appeal to those of us who are enthusiasts an...

Hi Ngraudal, Similar, but the hole location would be more towards the center of where the original hole was. sal http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn136/graudal/3928-1-2.jpg :) Thank you Sal. Would this be a Spyderco Europe then? EDC'able in the entire EU I would think. I think it is amazing that ...

I'm hoping good things will come to the Danish knife and steel enthusiasts also. It's very enjoyable conversing with folks from all over the world :) Very interested in seeing what form this Denmark friendly folder will take. I never flick my knives open, rather choose to use the thumbhole to open ...

Thank you for your quick response Sal.

Would a hole like this:

Still be a Spyderco-hole, regarding location size and visibility?

Hi Beagle, Our trademark is a round hole in a certain location on the blade. Trademarks cannot be changed at will once registered. With many companies trying to "look" like Spyderco, it's important that we maintain our trademark with consistency. sal Exactly how big does the hole have to ...

Does anyone else besides me feel that designing a knife to comply with these absurdly draconian laws does more harm than good? It's one thing for it to be good for a knife company (opening up a market), but it sadly entrenches the laws, legitimizes them, acknowledges them, and capitulates to them. ...

It is also worth to add that this knife is not exclusive to Denmark as a legal EDC. They have banned the carry of OHO in another European country quite recently, I just cant remember if it was the Netherlands or Belgium... A shortbladed slipjoint Spyderco with no OHO, that might even fit into the UK...

The problem with the Urban is that it has been constructed to be one-hand opening. And according to danish law this makes it illegal to own, and according to the general interpretation, it would be illegal even if it was modified by welding the hole closed. The knifelaws are even so ambiguous that ...

How was the Danish legislature ever able to be convinced that somehow a knife is made so much more dangerous by being able to be opened with one hand, anyway? I mean, was there no voting member present with the brains and guts to stand up and say, "People, this is absurd! Nothing about being a...
