I think they run ZDP at 65 ...I heard it has been done as high as 67 Rc.

BTW, the second run of Gayle Bradley's is 64 Rc I believe. It's a great hardness for M4 IMO.

Great to hear an update on the Chaparral. Bolstered version? Me likey!

Good to hear it's still targeted for July...if it comes out by the end of the month, I'll be happy for sure! I can't wait to finally have it in my hand...I'm No. 1 on the pre-order list at my dealer :D

Edge pro apex kit That's what I'm holding out for. Only about $250 for a sharpening system that can reprofile an edge with precision seems like it's worth it to me. I had a lansky...It worked well for what it is, but you get what you pay for IMO. The clamp actually ended up breaking. Just some advi...

Beautiful, that is some of the nicest looking polished CF.

I love the thick FFG XHP on it as well, I can't wait to get the XHP Millie to match my XHP Manix!

Not only is the Para 2 "worth" $100, it is actually priced at a very low profit margin, meaning you get far more knife for the money than basically any other knife. S30V, beautifully flat ground, a precise and strong compression lock, nice grippy G-10, great ergo's and overall design, etc....

Should have left it as it was and not sent it in like a lot of us said. Of course in retrospect I regret sending it in--but when I mentioned the problem to them they said to send it in to be checked out. At least it has really nice even bevels. It's not that bad anyway, about the same as the pics w...

I'm pretty upset...I sent it back to W&R and all they did was GRIND OFF MORE of the blade! And I specifically said in my included letter that I didn't want them to sharpen it if they sent the same one back, I had never used it...but they didn't just sharpen it, they reprofiled it :/ I love the k...

The Dragonfly has a really nice choil, but I actually find myself using a 3-fingered non-choil grip some of the time, especially when I'm not doing a precise cut (like slicing up some cardboard to recycle I might use a 3-finger grip). Obviously if you want to grip with all your fingers, you need to ...

I got my Cat today & I'm a little disappointed. Not necessarily in Spyderco, but the online dealer I bought it off of. I can't say for absolute certain, but it looks like this was a previous return. It didn't have the plastic bag for one, but there were other signs. This is a pet peeve of mine,...

I wish I had gotten a Barong before they went into price orbit after they were discontinued. So many knives, so few dollars. I'm in the same position...there are so many out of production knives that I missed out on and now are absurdly overpriced. There's been a Caly Jr. on ebay for $325 for the l...

I'd like to see some by the end of this year. But SFO is probably correct. It will be a limited production piece so it will take a while to get many out. The Native5 has been a long time in development. Refining the locking system a half thou at a time. We're hoping (and planning) that this version...

I'd definately add the ZDP Stretch to your list of possibilities. I have the blue one and it is a great knife. As far as sharpening ZDP, my first was a Michael Walker which I had a terrible time getting a sharp sharp edge back after the factory edge was gone. The Stretch was my second ZDP knife and...

That's something I was thinking about recently, that I would really be excited about, a Barong sprint. I was thinking the ideal materials would be peel-ply CF and ZDP. I would buy that in a heartbeat! If they could push back the grind lines to about the midway point of the opening hole, so as to giv...

Awesome steel. I've never had any problems with it--in fact, the edge is surprisingly responsive for me when I use the sharpmaker and strop. Of course, I never let it get really dull at all. I'm sure even if you did, diamond rods or stones would bring it back anyway. My first knife in ZDP was the Ca...

Excellent info in this thread, especially from Sal himself. I've been considering picking up some diamond rods, because I have nothing to aggressively remove steel. All of mine have been mentioned already--Urban (wharncliffe) and G-10 Dragonfly mostly, and Walker CF and Kopa on special occasions. For me, my favorite is the Caly 3 CF. The build quality and materials just really are some of the best possible, and the ergonomics and ease of carry are awesome as well. The Sage series is a close second for sure. One that I think doesn't get enough love nowadays is the UKPK. Specifically the S30V ...
