When I was at SFO a few years ago, they had Caly Jrs on sale at a really good price. I went through a big box of about 50 knives and couldn't find one that didn't wobble from side to side. Sometimes the blade actually scraped the handle so badly, you couldn't close it easily. I never did buy one, al...

Hi Paul,
I just wrote him to ask why he did this. I'm not really expecting a response.
Even though your website is not protected from this, it's not the right thing to do without your permission!

Hi D50boy and welcome!
No box reduces the value a bit to collectors. I'm gonna say $60-80 is a fair range. Actually, this was a nice little knife. The clip is easily pried off, since it's just glued on (not a lot of ties out there!).

Boy, Java, we're really hijackin' this thread, but I guess Spydergent got his question answered.
The more I look at it, the better I think that gold Worker would look on a Vegas bling necklace.

These were carried by John F. Jensen a number of years ago. They were done aftermarket, as I remember, in very small quantities. The coating is a dull Ti-Al as I recall, and they show up on ebay every now and then. You might check johnfjensen.com to see if he still has some.

This may sound weird, but this "golden age" discussion sort of reminds me of the music of Miles Davis. Miles moved from one great "age" of his music to another, and like Spyderco, he was always pushing the envelope of creativity. Lots of critics used to plead that he return to a ...

I don't know where you live, but I think it's a German product. I've always found it at hardware stores in the US.

Hi myatt,
Yes, the same process would help with blade scratches, just go in the same direction as the grind (up/down, not across).
Flitz is probably similar to Simichrome, but maybe a little more abrasive. Flitz is also a great blade protector. Buffs up really well.

Welcome here, myatt.
On ss handles, I've had great luck with 1) green 3M scratchy pad (as lightly as possible) and 2) Flitz as a followup.
They will come out, unless super-deep.

That's really nice Craig. Do you have your own bead blasting setup? How much do they cost? Also, Paul, they do scratch up exceptionally easily in the pocket. I have an old Lum Tanto with Ti handles, which was scratched when I bought it new. I sent it to Spyderco and it came back all freshly blasted ...

Steelman, My favorite knife and a good subject. There were a few early (GIN-1) variations. There were black G-10 handles, in 2 different finishes (coarse & smoother) and 2 Almite handles, with and without diagonal drying vents. Then, of course, each was produced in some unknown quantity in PE an...

Hi Java,
I have the same set of engraved SS models. Bought them from a friend in the UK.
I remember some negative stuff on this forum about Ms. Glasshart. She used to do a lot of business on engraved Spyderco knives. I thought she totally disappeared!
Just wondering.

Is the handle smooth or rough-textured? If it's smooth, it probably aluminum. If it has a textured pattern and looks like black plastic, G10. Aluminum models (there are at least 3 variations) go for more money, but a lot depends on condition. I'm going from memory here, but if it's aluminum and ther...
