Well lets say you're at a college, in class. You sit next to the only door to the classroom. A crazed person comes in shooting. You can't concealed carry because of the stupid firearm free zones that the protectionists setup, but you have you're knife on you (or knives). The gunman starts shooting ...

You aren't talking about fit or function. You're talking about a cosmetic item that you consider a flaw. I would hazard to say that most users would never notice the item and even the small amount that do, would not care about it nor consider it a flaw. It obviously is not cost effective to ...

Have you seen the processes that go into making an engine that works well? Every process has tolerances, it actually is that hard to make things that fit together that well. Just curious, do you have any manufacturing background at all?

With your engine reference, apart from not understanding all ...

I ordered my first Spyderco in some fifteen years, and after my initial glee, when I tried to change the clip from the right hand to left hand carry side, it did not fit in the hole. Has anyone ever experienced this? I pushed the clip down in there pretty hard, but it does not snap in like it does ...

What the heck are you talking about. These knives aren't made by machines, in fact probably over 50% the work is manual.

A $10 increase in cost that translate to $10 increase in retail simply won't happen, you can easily have 5x the markup in retail over additional production cost.

No offense but ...

Hi Jeffrey,

I would guess that you are not involved in manufacturing. But I am happy to share.

The G-10 D'fly should actually cost a bit more. We lowered our normally "fixed" margin. Partially because it cost more than anticipated (Yen got stgronger since proto was quoted.) and partially because ...

Fact: Pixar comment was sadly accurate. I think a tour through Spyderco's various plants would make you blush. It's not all robots and Santa's elves...

Summary: Don't compare a Corvette to a Camaro because it costs twice as much and isn't the same at all.

That must be the quality control problem ...

A sharpened $5 knife from Walmart? What knife is that one again?

A cutting tool can only be so much better than another cutting tool. If they both cut, they succeed in 50%+ of the job. That's why sharpened stones did ok for hundreds/thousands of years. I think Spyderco hits the performance notch ...

It could also be the steel type. H1 shavings look different than VG10 shavings and I would assume the start point of a laser would have a similar shade/residue.

Where do they stop when they are polishing the holes? Should they bevel the spyderhole on each side so that it's smooth? My H1 ...

If you want it black just RIT dye it black. I've found that if you use the dark brown color and leave it in for hours it makes a flat black finish.

I have pulled this off with an Izula which is my main fixed blade EDC. I bought a Spyderco G-clip from the factory and it fits the Izula sheath perfect. You can clip it to the inside or outside of your pants, shorts, whatever and it stays put. No need for a belt either. I have used this setup even ...
