Oh the decisions! The vendor got back to me. I can ship the knife back to him and he'll send me the Native, or I can keep the Calypso jr and he'll refund me $10.

The vendor is Robert Odom ...Odomace. Until this mixup, he was great to deal with. Fast replies to email etc.
He hasn't replied to today's email yet ...

I bought a Native frn PE from ebay and my shipment came in today... but in the Spyderco Box with the Native sticker on the end, was a Calypso Jr. frn PE.

Great knife... but I have one already.

Tightwad... I agree completely. I know a woman who had her keys held definsevely between her fingers for self-defense while walking home. She was assaulted and, of course, dropped her keys leaving her weaponless. I can't imagine she would have done better with a knife.

A tip-up spydie just falls into the perfect position for opening. With tip-down I have to play with it a bit. And drop opening leaves me with part of the blade in my hand... maybe I have yet to perfect the technique?

I really like the calypso jr too... beautiful, fits my hand great, and cuts wonderfully. It's my first tip down knife though, and I'm trying to get used to it. So - I just bought a native as a tip up replacement for my long lost delica.

I understand that this isn't the reply you're looking for, but I keep my EDC in my watch pocket (Calypso Jr and before that, a Delica). There's plenty of room, and I find it more comfortable (sitting etc) than carrying my knife clipped to my waistband, belt, or front pocket.

I love my PE Calypso Jr. too! Since I use my knife a lot for cutting food, the blade is so much handier than my serrated delica. And it cuts through cardboard like a hot knife through butter.

Still, I have my eye on a native... and maybe a serrated cricket...

I bought a calypso jr pe ltwt to replace my lost delica. I have read many posts saying it is super sharp right out of the box. I have to say that although I am very happy with the knife (although I'm trying to get used to tip down) - it was not as sharp as other knives i have bought.

welcome to Toronto. I don't think you'll find the weather too different from Chicago.
I haven't been to S&R, but I will be sure to check them out on my search for a plainedge Calypso Jr. So far my search has taken me to my usual haunts... outdoors stores on King St W - Europe Bound, Marathon ...
