Re: S90V & Blue G-10
I don't think so. There was a Blue Manix 2 sprint before I think Bento even existed. There was also a Dodo and a Yojimbo 1. Not sure if those were sprints or what. As far as I know, any dealer could request any color and steel if it were available. It's not like Orange is reserved for Cutlery Shopp...

Re: Does anyone know why Byrd doesn't offer D2 steel?
Thanks for your thoughts. You're probably right that it isn't much better.
I know that some steel isn't used in China when the factory says they have a hard time working with the steel.

Does anyone know why Byrd doesn't offer D2 steel?
Other brands seem to offer D2 in China made knives. The brands and the market seem to think it's a step up from other steels.
I don't think I've ever seen it offered from Byrd. There is probably a reason for this. I hope someone can offer some insight.

I carry S110V very often. It does good.
CTS-BD30P
CTS-XHP (Is XHP still popular? It cuts very good.)
CPM-M4
Whatever it is I have in my pocket.

Re: What knives do you miss?
Maybe the dark green, linerless, Native 5 in S90V. Not too many, I resist letting stuff go too much. I have dupes and/or sprints of a lot of the models I like. I wonder why we never saw anything else in CTS-20CP. That's one I don't want to let go of because there is nothing else available with that ...

Re: Completely Forgotten Spyderco Models: Your Favorites?
I like the Rookie. I was messing around with my S the other day, it's pretty nice. I think mine needs some oil. Micarta (or maybe some new material) Caly Jr would be a sweet sprint. I have only ever owned a couple of FRN models. But you know, I probably like the Caly 3 and Caly 3.5 and Calypso bette...

Re: Compression lock
2nd vote for the Jojimbo 2. It is a pretty amazing user. Really a pleasure to use and it fits my hand like a glove. I like the Para 3 lightweight, also. It's almost too light. I can't even think of any other compression lock models that I love. Oh wait, Sage is pretty epic with the laminate carbon f...

Re: yojimbo trainers
That's odd that they are so low stock. It's also odd that not many people have stock on them. Sometimes you find that one place has stock and no one else does. I have one and I saw it sitting on my shelf a week or two ago and I think I forgot I even had it. I have the (non spyderco) aluminum fixed b...

I'll work on that. You can see in my photo that since I'm at an angle, there is a very small amount in focus and there is a lot that is out of focus.

Re: Flashlights
Does anyone have a recommendation for a good flashlight with a flat shape? I have a lot of issues with round flashlights for EDC, and vastly prefer something flatter. I am currently carrying an Olight Arkfeld, but the laser feature is totally useless to me. I'd prefer something with a choice of whi...

I got a reverse lensing kit and I don't think I have the patience for macro photography. This is the only shot I took.

Probably the Lionspy.
I like my Manix 2 (is it a Manix 2?) with the back lock, no liners and smooth scales.
Most of the knives I carry are "comfortable enough." Thank you Spyderco for that!

Re: I think we’re reaching the limit
You're not off base saying S90V is old news to some David, but it's a shame. I love S90V it's one of the better steels out there in my opinion, and still a reason for me to buy a knife I might not otherwise. Both 90 and 110 are amazing, it's incredible that either one is old news. It's definitely p...

Re: Bring back this grind on the Native.
I'm not sure if you could "reuse the mold" from that older model with some of the newer parts. I strongly doubt there is a strong enough demand for the cost of making a new mold.
How many years ago was the XHP sprint of this model? I have one, it seemed like it was a very low demand model.

Re: Are all SE’s single sided bevel?
I would think that making it single sided from the factory makes it better for the end user because they can sharpen a V edge onto it or keep it single beveled.
I think the Deacon corrected me in thinking that it was chisel ground because the flat side of the blade isn't perfectly flat.
