Re: Crucarta, what's going on?

Unlike the above poster, I have seen quite a few posts with this exact complaint around the Internet in the various Spyderco and knife groups. It just seems to be part of the crucarta version, either due to micarta as yablanowitz said or something with the design. If you want a PM2 to use like that...

Re: Para 3 LW detent slop

I use Si3N4 but believe people have used both successfully. I have thousands of openings on some and can't by eye at least see any groove; it just looks polished. I haven't tried feeling any though don't think you will have to worry this lifetime.

Re: Para 3 LW detent slop

It's easy to replace the ball if that's the problem. Grab a 2mm ceramic ball, poke the existing one out, press the new one in (even a cheap screw clamp will work to press it in). Thank you. This is what im going to do, 2mm if for certain the correct size? Yep 2mm is correct. I followed this guy's g...

BHQ posted this is being recalled by Spyderco because of some production issue, and that will delay the release date.

Re: Can we get some Ultem scaled Sekis please?

There's a reason you never see a used knife pic with it, including in this thread. It scratches and looks horrible (not what you want for a transparent material), and it cracks easily. For example: https://www.reddit.com/r/EDC/comments/125rws1/pretty_bummed_anyone_else_have_this_issue_with/ https://...

Re: What year Police Model is my lefty??

Spydiewiki has some info https://www.spydiewiki.com/index.php?title=C07_Police though unfortunately the "POLICE MODEL" labeled gen 1s don't have a count. I'd wonder if the 20% lefty number continued from the PIG though

Re: Microjimbo

Hey, Bolster: I designed the MicroJimbo with the potential of being able to use it as a defensive knife. As such, I wanted to maintain a subtle integral guard to keep the hand from sliding forward if used to thrust. When used for cutting, the lack of a choil also eliminates the possibility of snagg...

Re: Upping the price.

You can argue Kershaw sells more so scale prices that way, but small makers also are beating Spyderco in pricing. Some examples, Dead Reconing Knives offers an American made titanium integral with (optional) sculpted handles and MagnaCut blade for $425; compare that to the $644 for the Taiwan made i...

Re: Upping the price.

I like 14cr28n over 8cr because of the much better corrosion resistance. Secondarily the fine edge holding tends to be better (there's a lot of overlap depending on the manufacturer in my experience, but the better 14cr beats the better 8cr from what I've had).

Knifecenter has some Spydies on clearance, mostly but not all discontinued stuff. The Rock Jumper for just under, $60 stands out though, about where it should be priced (IMO)

Re: Parata cruwear ffg and superlock

With the curve on the top of the handle, I'm not sure the superlock would fit(?). I don't think I've seen any superlock designs with a lock bar short enough to hit before the handle curves down and away, including knives with any of the ripoff lock designs like the Shark and Atlas. Designs with a su...

Re: Price increases for 2024

SpydieChef was $191.97 when it first came out in October 2016. At the time, MAP was 40% off MSRP of $319.95. Since then the MSRP has increased to $404.00 and with MAP being 25% off MSRP means the dealer price will be $303.00 tomorrow. It's worse when you go back pre MAP as well. I paid $98.99 from ...

Yeah no — the MAP price is 449.95, making the MSRP $600 or north of that (whichever MAP % you want to use).
That makes more sense. I was wondering why it seemed so reasonable :p

Re: Knifejoy Exclusive...Slysz Bowie??!!

Assuming they bump MAP to 75% before release (it appears they haven't yet though), that's $337.46 street. $314.97 if it stays at 70%
