Re: LC200N Salt 2 Incredible
Anyone have issues with loctite on the pivot? Mine came loose and I snugged it down, but yesterday I found it had loosened again. When I took the screw out I was surprised that Seki had not used any locite. I hit it with the blue loctite stick and waited the recommended 24 hours. This morning I fou...

Re: New Endura back lock super stiff
Did you try adjusting the pivot? If it is too tight it puts pressure where it shouldn't be. I'd start by loosening it, then gradually tighten (1/8 turn at a time) until I felt no side to side blade play.

LC200N Salt 2 Incredible
I've posted about using my serrated LC200N UKPK for the last couple of years. Since they were so cheap on clearance, I picked up a couple of LC200N Wharncliffe Salt 2 knives and have been using one for a week or so. I'm impressed. The Salt 2 weighs less than 2 oz, offers a secure, full-hand grip, an...

Re: Please educate me on the compression lock
It's been my experience that properly heat treated steel detent balls in liner, frame, and compression locks wear down as much as they're ever going to pretty quickly, then the wear seems to stop and they stay that way forever. The friction of a perfectly round detent ball on a flat surface is conce...

Re: Spyderco liner locks
I trust my Spyderco Military more than 99% of the titanium frame locks out there. The Ti framelock is only as strong as its thinnest section - most of them are extremely thin, and titanium is nowhere near as strong as steel given the same thickness. I have 3 Military models now, but I've owned 20 o...

Re: Spyderco Clinch Pick
For the rest of us, how about these? Those are great knives, but I prefer edge-in for teeny fixed blades. I tried the Reverse, but it was just too long to wear between 10:00-2:00. The Clinch Pick is one of those unique designs, being so small as well as effective. Shivworks supplies an adequate pro...

I don't mean to resurrect an old thread, but a Spyderco Clinch Pick Salt could be a great rendition of a great design.

Re: Knife trends you just don't understand?
I'm sure it was mentioned somewhere in the last 9 pages, but I still don't get flipper tabs. I want my thumb in contact with the blade (stud or spyder-hole) to ensure it opens, so that if I need to open my folder an emergency I can personally guarantee, as much as humanly possible, that the blade op...

Re: The Pivot Bushing
No slop in your Military Model? Good to know. What variant? I’d like to know when the OG Military got a pivot-bushing, if it didn’t have one originally. The Military2 certainly has one, and mine has no slop. Do you think it not possible to swap worn-down PB washers should slop develop? They started...

Re: The Pivot Bushing
What properties does it offer? Does it have unintended consequences? It offers super smooth, bearing like opening and closing. A consequence of the design, I believe (and someone please correct me if I'm wrong), is that if the tolerances aren't perfect from the factory the blade can have some side ...

Re: Yojimbo 2 Lightweight
Dear Ferruginous: I have provided deeper insights on the Yo 2's design logic before on the forum. Those would still make an insightful read, but here's the gist: *I designed it as a Wharncliffe to maximize its cutting power for the available edge length. That was the primary goal for my approach to...

Re: Yojimbo 2 Lightweight
A thinner blade, and a textured FRN handle with rounded corners (especially where it flares out at the front of the handle) would make a great design better. I no longer carry my Yojimbo 2 because the flared handle was devastating to my jeans, and I really didn't like the needle thin tip and the ext...

Re: Canvas micarta scales
I like micarta on stainless knives. Like everyone knows, micarta absorbs oils. Body oils break down and grow bacteria which is gross on a tool I use to cut food with. I like micarta on stainless knives so I can wash them often without worrying about rust forming under the handles. I have two EDC fix...

Re: Your running knife?
Quick question, for those runners, is an H1 or LC200 or similar a requirement? Would K390 be okay? I don't have any issues with rust on EDC. Looking at either P Salt 2 or an Endura K390. Of course I'd rinse off either after a run, but thinking a 30-ish minute run isn't a long exposure time for a K3...

Re: What you don't like about spyderco knives?
1. Lanyard tubes so big that it compromises other design aspects, like pocket clip placement. I really wish they'd CQI the Para 2 and 3 to include the wire pocket clip on the G10 models. I'd buy several G10 Para 3s if they did, and never carry another sub-3" folder for the rest of my days. I'm ...
