Re: Show your Mule
K thanks for the glow-lume idea that I'm totally going to rip off of you π. I cannot believe that I didn't know about this stuff when I use SrAl2O4 strontium aluminate glow in the dark coatings on my kitchen handles as an option. Seriously thank you lol. A lot. -Jason No drama happy to help You do ...

Cocobolo scales that are fresh off the buffing wheel. No finish or buffing compound, just sanded to 1000 grit then buffed with a raw cotton fabric wheel. You can see why this wood is so desirable. https://i.imgur.com/miVkvCC.mp4 Casper, what kind of fasteners are those? They appear to be flat or do...

Re: Show your Mule
For those that have made wooden handles, what size pins did you use? 4mm? 6mm? I could argue that the pins are almost useless. Their diameter isn't exactly for strength it's for looks. Let's just walk through together how we make full tang knives in my shop or anywhere really. It's not a very effic...

Re: The best "worst" serrated knives I have ever owned.
This is interesting. You use nylon 3,3 or wood? Or polyethylene/teraphalate? I craft end-grain wood cutting boards, which is what is used in our kitchens almost exclusively. I imagine they would create a bunch of micro plastic shavings on any plastic board as well. Yum, right? -burly Very nice. Thi...

Re: The best "worst" serrated knives I have ever owned.
Won't someone please think of the cutting boards? Those microserrations are the nemesis of my fine boards. I got a couple little free paring microserrated knives when purchasing Spydercos online....they are now banned from the kitchen, and relegated to garden or garage work. Even then, in 90% of ca...

I have always loved how wood looks on a knife once it's properly done and whatnot. I personally like some of the lighter ... 'Worse' ones like ash or such which is what is on my secondary santoku in rex 121(bad idea cause I'm lazy and always wait until after eating for cleaning up, magnacut has beco...

Fresh set of Gabon Ebony scales I made on my HIC Mule. Last night I ordered some black screws so I can go full stealth π https://i.imgur.com/nYorIiF.jpeg I like that. A lot. Get a few with the black screws if you don't mind so I know if I should switch over. I've wanted to use CF but I don't have a...

I don't recall interacting with you over on Blade Forums, Jason. Doesn't necessarily mean we haven't, but I take no offense to any misunderstanding that we may have had. My posts could be criticized for incomplete information, but I never post false information to the best of my understanding. I'm ...

Thanx Jason, but we have plenty of steel. sal 10-4 LC. I sort of meant the users here because I forgot that this isn't a "knife maker" forum, but quickly realized my mistake. I'm honestly not sure why Mike asked me here he's.. very smart and did marketing basically. He knows that type isn...

Taichung is doing an excellent heat-treatment of Maxamet. They always have and that's why I also put in for it but.. Maxamet I would think* is a little easier to heat treat but they said 68 and Rockwell said.. 68. Not 68.25 not 67.75. I was surprised and became a customer instantly. I'm calling tha...

Re: A new spin on "HIC dropping soon"
Okay so minus another one for science. After throwing it around at painted cinder block and dropping it onto concrete at the tip and once that fractured then the edge, I think my little hypothesis was wrong about the vibration deal as, this is when I wish I had a high speed camera, but it seemed to ...

Re: Get me excited about M398
You're talking about knowing stuff but when speaking with an entire community of people with very different levels of knowledge/culture on the subject, it can't really bring a lot to the discussion if you do not have a way to vulgarize or explain what you know as facts. That might be one of the rea...

You're totally right there. See I'll admit right now that was a good example of my generational laziness. I saw an old thread and.. well I know steel lol. Re: A new spin on "HIC dropping soon"
I believe that the reason they break isn't necessarily the force of the drop but.. resonate vibrations that.. ceramics just don't like. I could cite a bunch of science stuff but I don't actually know that, it's an educated guess. I have one of these things left that I was .. admittedly not using as ...
