Re: Why Do Seki Models Have Lock Rock??!!

This is almost disheartening because I've badly wanted to try the K390 steel which so many people rave about. I guess I will have to wait until/if they ever produce an American model with the infamous K390 steel. Infamous? In what way does K390 have a bad reputation? I do think the Golden knives ha...

Re: Why Do Seki Models Have Lock Rock??!!

Infamous meaning "widely known and accepted". No. My apologies. It does mean generally regarded as bad, unacceptable, notorious. I used it in the term of being widely known. It's famous K390 since that is the word you're looking for. This post was supposed to receive good feedback, which ...

Re: Why Do Seki Models Have Lock Rock??!!

It has to do with the back spacer. Replacing it with a more rigid titanium one minimized mine. I have had a lot of Spydercos with steel backspacers & lock rock. Chiefs, C95's, etc. Every Native 5 LW I have received has had zero lock rock that I could detect . The metal back spacer on my endura ...

Re: DLC / Coated K390

Is there a reason why we don’t see coated K390 Seki spydercos? The coating process interferes with the blade temper. It might be possible to do on K390 but requires more R&D. That is a reason that makes a lot of sense to because K390 doesn’t use a high temper for knife blades like it does for h...

Re: DLC / Coated K390

You can get your blades coated with DLC at hvm.cz (by HVM Plasma) they charge $8usd per blade plus shipping. They can coat your liners if you desire so. You can check out their work on facebook group Spyderco CZ/SK, due to relatively low cost, lots of the blades in Czech are being coated there Do t...

Re: DLC / Coated K390

Seki and Taichung use TiCN, rather than DLC. AFAIK, TiCN is not as good as DLC from a durability and corrosion resistance standpoint, but is still better than no coating. If you like TiCN, you're gonna love DLC :) I too am hoping they do a run of the current Seki K390 lineup with coated blades. I l...

DLC / Coated K390

I bought the BladeHQ DLC coated M4 delica and love what the coating it does for corrosion resistance and ease of cleaning. I love K390 and couldn’t think of a better thing than putting such a coating on the K390 seki spydercos to enhance ease of maintenance. Is there a reason why we don’t see coated...

Re: Is the Endura still well loved in 2023?

The Endura 4 is still my favorite spyderco model. I’d love to see one with a delica’s stock thickness however. Was hoping that at least the Endela would carry over the thinner Delica blade stock...but it got the 3 mm of the Endura. That would be great, I love how my delica handles food prep having ...

Re: Catcherman LC200N Sprint Run

I felt that the upcoming LC200N Sprint Run of the classic Catcherman deserved its own thread! A picture: https://i.imgur.com/eaqQutz.jpg (At first I thought this upcoming sprint run was the first one with a full flat grind, but I was wrong. There was a black FRN one in MBS-26 from the early 2000s t...

Re: Yellow Magnacut :(

I would hope that LC200n would fill this space. Why make knives with Magnacut with yellow scales? LC200N knives (perhaps just the N5 Lw and the UK PK) used to be yellow (USA made) but updating them to green means that they match the Seki LC200N knives. It looks like MC is the salt steel that Spyder...

Re: Why both LC200N and Magnacut for Native Chief LW?

I think that it might be to match people’s sharpening preferences. The Vanadium Carbide in Magna-Cut is harder for traditional ceramic and aliminum oxide waterstone and sharpeners to sharpen.

Re: A golden era of salts

Reveal 14 dropped and it looks like the Golden Colorado favorites are getting salt variants. The Manix salt, pm2 salt, native chief salt and para 3 salt all were pleasant and exciting surprises to see. There’s a salt for everyone now. It looks like i will need to add some more salt to my collection...

Re: Are We Witnessing The Death Knell of K390 In Production Folders?

I’m just curious as to what people are thinking. There is some still available, but there has been considerable retrenching. I think it’s just the serrated and wharnie models period. The wharnie LC200N salts also got discontinued. Serrated models even in H1 have great edge retention, coild be that ...

I don't know why this reminded me of this video, but since we're taking shots at unreasonable wives 😂

My wife doesn’t judge my knife hobby because the things she likes to buy are just as expensive.
