Seki and Taichung use TiCN, rather than DLC. AFAIK, TiCN is not as good as DLC from a durability and corrosion resistance standpoint, but is still better than no coating. I think that it might be to match people’s sharpening preferences. The Vanadium Carbide in Magna-Cut is harder for traditional ceramic and aliminum oxide waterstone and sharpeners to sharpen.
