Re: We don't actually need to Magnacut *all* the knives
M390 does have better edge retention according to Larrin's chart: https://i0.wp.com/knifesteelnerds.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/stainless-ratings-table2.jpg?w=561&ssl=1 Larrin's chart is not for true "edge retention", though that is the term he uses. It is really for "edge abr...

Re: We don't actually need to Magnacut *all* the knives
I have two pieces in Magnacut a Spyderco Native Salt Serrated and a Bark River Bravo LT1. Both see plenty of use. I have found it to be a superb steel and I am holding off on any more purchases of any brand including Spyderco unless it is in Magnacut. In other words I completely disagree with the ne...

Re: Community Sharpening Journal
I keep a spyderco fine ceramic stone in my knife roll, along with my gyutos, sujihikis, petties etc. Today I was working with a chef we recently added to our team. He was showing me some of the knives he keeps in his roll. But that isn't what caught my eye. What caught my eye was his strop and the ...

Re: AI, Sp AI derco knife. Let’s see what AI does with Spyderco designs
Hi Fireman, My grandson got an AI APP and we asked AI a bunch of questions. AI is stupid, ignorant and makes up crap like a non fiction novel. Definitively political, I would be very cautious about believing anything AI says or does. It did make us laugh. sal Exactly! FYI I have not forgotten about...

Re: Community Sharpening Journal
Well I'll be dog-gone, I have a Sebenza in S45VN I reprofiled it using the TSPROF Blitz down to a legitimate 17 degrees per side using an angle cube. Burs formed and flipped etc.... The knife has never cut as well as it should. I mean seriously for $550.00 it should have been screaming sharp from th...

Re: Community Sharpening Journal
I recently discovered and new way of free handing on a stone. It started with a nagging issue followed by a question. Nagging Issue: Darn it I can't really see where the blade is touching the stone during free handing and flipping it over just makes things worse. What IF I could see where the blade ...

Ok maybe I missed it due to thread length but I keep wondering the following: JD Spydo are you in some way connected to the development of this knife? I only ask because you have taken so much time and kindly so to keep this thread going like there is some kind of vested interest? I do not consider...

Re: AI, Sp AI derco knife. Let’s see what AI does with Spyderco designs
The thing that baffles me is people even playing with these things. Even Amazon promotes "Make Alexa smarter." Excuse me but why would anybody voluntarily teach an Artificial Intelligence? Playing with these technologies is dangerous. Playing of course is an innocuous easy way of getting ...

Re: CPM 15V PM2
Seems to me like the PM2 comes in more steels than any other model and with the traffic I see on Bladeforums there are plenty getting purchased traded and sold so I have to disagree with the popularity of just about any other model being more or less. Most of the people on this forum if asked will l...

Re: The Ignorance of Steel
I’ve been very frustrated with my S30V Positron. Or as I usually refer to it, the Gents Shiv. For whatever reason these have terribly thick grinds so they aren’t slicy in any way. But even still it should sharpen up and cut stuff. But I’ve always had it struggle with even just opening boxes. I’ve n...

Re: Surprised By New FFG Delica
It might be the BD1N I have the para 3 in lightweight BD1N and after that I am not buying anymore of that steel. I know people like BD1N so I usually try to refrain form saying anything about it. I also much prefer the G10 full liner version of the Para3 as well. When It comes to handles I actually ...

Re: Surprised By New FFG Delica
Great choice! For me the ffg Delica still is the best small Spydie out there (with stiff competition by the Chap) Roomy handle, still a ricasso to choke up on and first and foremost a strong enough, but reasonably thin blade. The a bit reenforced tip (by that "drop") is also nice. When te...

Re: KnifeCenter Manix 2 XL Cruwear/Smooth G10
That’s a bummer, and definitely grounds for replacement. If you wanted to fix that yourself though, you could do it by fitting a slightly smaller ball bearing. It would cause deeper lockup when open, and lower the tip in the handle when closed. I’m planning that for one of my older Manix that I did...

Re: So what's with 15V anyway?
Yep just like that. :smlling-eyes The characteristics of the steel are something I want to experience and it will make something like my 20th PM2 I have purchased in different steels, I have sold a few PM2's here and there over the years (Mostly Backups until I realized the knives will likely outlas...

Re: Respectful feedback and ideas regarding 15V sprint runs
Posting here in the hopes to get visibility from Spyderco management, and to source ideas on how to improve Sprint Runs. Spydercos products are exceptional, in my opinion. I received one as a wedding gift from my wife. But their awareness and execution regarding how to distribute and sell their rec...
