I don’t understand why they don’t ticn coat the cutting Engel of the knife? Wouldn’t that give it better edge retention and corrosion resistance?

I discovered that if you create an account on nationalknives.com, you get an "unadvertised discount" on Spyderco knives. It might work with other brands as well, but..I don't really buy any other brands anymore.

Yeah I think the cheaper Amazon stones are just Japanese wet stones - whatever that means. I kind of manly want it for my cheaper knives (aus8 8crs 440). Once I get good I think I’ll have to get some diamond stones.

I would advise giving fiberglass-reinforced nylon a second chance. Both G10 and FRN are plastic composites. Just because the FRN is lighter doesn't mean it's cheap or weak. Spyderco does a really good job with it and it has some functional advantages over G10, like its weight and ability to be ...
