Re: Your running knife?
OK, I just had to test it today. I took the Pacific Salt for a run - carrying it IWB in the back (quick test proved that it would be getting a little in the way in the front). And since it was sitting basically between my running pants and underwear (yeah, I am getting old, I know folks don't wear ...

Or eat more ice cream, obviously. That would tighten up my shorts. Or get shorts with suspenders. Both options should give you a charming appearance that I'll expect would have some innate decriminalizing properties. Lederhosen come to mind, but I imagine they would chafe something awful :zany

Re: Just bought a KME sharpener and I have questions...
The fixed angle systems are specifically that, fixed angle. You set the angle and then sharpen to that angle. The Appleseed or convex edge is easiest with a belt system or freehand. The precision of the fixed angle system is the selling point, but it will produce those clear transitions between diff...

I would guess you may not be apexing yet...
But if it is sharper then when you started, that is what you are looking for.
If it is sharp... go cut stuff.

Re: Question on my new Military
With a front facing blade (my preferred carry is RFP), I would much rather have a very strong detent, but that is my comfort level. You can always dismantle and relieve the (edit lockbar) liner-lock a little. Just don't make it too loose...

Re: Para 3 Lightweight CQI
if you put a torx head on both sides of the chicago screws, it's not obvious which side is there to be loosened and which should be held still. I think it'd make more sense to have a flathead on the barrel side and a torx on the screw side. This is alleviated if the hole is round. Then one turns an...

5....and those who cut, but cut poorly I got a little love nibble from my paysan this weekend. Haven't been bitten by a blade in quite a while. My Siren has gotten me more than once, but this was from using two hands to close a Native 5 Salt - really tight backlock. First thing I cut with Magnacut ...

"There are those who sharpen their knives frequently, and those who cut with dull knives." Like the inquisitors in the Monty Python skit, you need to add an option: "There are THREE, THREE options. There are those who sharpen their knife frequently, there are those who cut with a dul...

Re: Bring Back Spyderench!
Zhyla, I was going to mention the Knipex (apparently the K is pronounced) pliers. They look like a good piece of kit, but the rarity of need for a set of pliers, for me, precludes me carrying anything like a multi-tool or dedicated pliers. But an astounding number of insta-snap-face-toc'ers do seem ...

Other Person: Needs something cut, but doesn't have the right tool You: Produces appropriate cutting tool Other Person: (shocked voice) "What do you need to carry a knife like that for?" You: "This, obviously." I (like most of us) have been in that exact scenario more times that...

Re: Scale swap and rust
Fair, Like the OP said, using all the hardware from the salt would stave off most concerns. I am curious to try the swap on my CF native, haven't taken them both apart at the same time though to see how much of the hardware would swap over. Backspacer will obviously be an issue, but it isn't touchi...

Re: Scale swap and rust
Probably not great, they may be stainless but we've had reports of liners rusting just on a hot and sweaty day in someone's pocket or wasteband, so salt water is going to be even worse. Plus there's galvanic corrosion which has been an issue even with knives that have LC200N liners. There's a reaso...

Re: A separate brand for Titanium knives from Spyderco ?
At the end of the day, however passionate your are about the brand, it is a mid-tier brand. (Yes I realize that will get me flamed, but I wore my NOMEX suit today). Say what you will about premium materials, unobtanium sprints that demand high value on the secondary, unique materials and steels, Spy...
