Pretty down for just about anything, but I have been especially interested in cheaper and tougher steels lately. 52100 and AEB-L are cool.
I've also been interested in "funner" handle colors.

Re: First time Spyderco purchase
Those are two of my favorite models! The Chaparral is just about a perfect lock back, and the Cat is a great cheap lil knife. We probably have similar tastes, so I think you'd be pretty stoked on the Astute. Good ergos for a small knife, and the blade is huge relative to handle size. Like comparable...

Re: Where are the Chaparral LW colors?
Let's get some pastels, neons, weird patterns (ala colored vinyl) and gradients going. Surely FRN is able to be mixed in cool ways? All due respect but we are drowning in a sea of martial masculinity drag palettes, if after 10,000 years there isn't enough I Have A Job Greyscale, Weekend Warrior OD,...

I really like pastel colors. You don't see many lavender or pale green knives.

Re: How about a CRUWEAR or Z-Wear Native 5?
I'm not well versed in material science or anything, but I've heard micarta is weaker than G10. I'm not sure in what way or by what amount, but since the Native is now a linerless design it might need additional testing or the return of steel liners.

Re: manix 2 wish list
I also love the manix platform. I would really appreciate a regular production manix in some sort of super duper tough steel. A 52100 or AEB-L would be pretty dang cool. My only current manix is an M390 variant, but it's super prone to chipping (even compared to my other high carbide knives I own), ...

Re: Polished FRN?
The edges of the Para 3 are "glassy" feeling frn compared to the "gritty" feeling frn from Seki, so polishing seems very possible. But I think it would also depend on the specific formula and ratio of nylon and fiberglass. I'm assuming fiberglass is much harder than nylon and is ...

Re: Manix 2 Flytanium Ball Cage Trouble
As a person that like's to tinker, I don't always agree with the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" ethos, and I totally get that the cage isn't the most aesthetically pleasing thing on the Manix. But also, ya gotta wonder, why pay more to make something worse? Titanium isn't always better ...

Re: Models you'd like to see return.
I would love for the Kiwi 4 to come back. I don't think there's anything in the current lineup that fulfills the niche the Kiwi 4 did. Ultra slim wharnie with a wire clip just seems hella useful. I wanted one terribly back when I was a college student, but it just wasn't in the cards. It got disco'd...

Re: Mora as a pocket fixed blade?
I can't imagine pocket carrying a Mora unless I was wearing carpenter pants with all that long skinny pocket for rulers. Another thought is if you got a birch handled one you could carve the handle a lot thinner for pocketability.

Re: DLT Tan 20CV Yojimbo 2
Thanks! Seems like a real bargain considering that's only like $4 more than the base model. Still pretty pricey though. I wish they'd make a LW Yojimbo in like BD1N or something for $100ish. It's one of those knives I've looked at for years, but can't justify since it's somewhat specialized.

Re: DLT Tan 20CV Yojimbo 2
Any word on pricing? I looked on the DLT site but couldn't find it. When I got my M390 Manix (I forget from which retailer) it was only like $20 more than a base S30v model. I don't mind S30V at all, but with such little price difference it just made sense to get the fancy dealer exclusive in case I...

Re: Which knife for my wife?
It looks like Cuscadi will fabricate customs scales, so your options are huge. Ultimately it would probably be best to ask her what she likes in a knife and what she doesn't. There are also some other things to keep in mind. People have wildly different preferences, so you should probably ask her wh...
