Typically I'll use mineral oil. It does a fairly good job of protecting against corrosion. From what I've found it doesn't turn into a gel, and doesn't gunk up the pivot.

I've got a text 45 manix lw coming tomorrow. I've never had rex 45 and wanted to know how it sharpens up compared to similar steels. Thx

1. Cts xhp- sharpens great and holds a fine edge for a good amount of time.
2. S35vn- sharpens good, strops easily, and can take some abuse.
3.154cm- does everything xhp does just not as well as xhp

These are a few model ideas I'd like to see be explored. I would like to see a skinning knife in k390. 3-4 inch blade, contoured handle, coating or noncoated. another model id like to see would be a bushcraft knife in 52100, 4-5 inch blade, dlc coated. S110v is stronger than what most people give it credit for. It's not the first steel I'd pick for hard use, but unless your trying to go through logs and chop I can't see you having any problems.
