Re: How often does Spyderco upgrade knife versions?
we put them on the Stretch 1 & 2, which has not been well received. We're still studying the reasons. sal This may be my favorite pattern and part of the reason IS the choil. The Endela and Stretch are virtually identical in all measurements but the ergonomics IMHO is better on the Stretch 2. I...

Re: Shop / garage / beater knife.
I would second the Mora or a Hultafors. I have one in my garage/shop for exactly such things as scraping epoxy, cutting fiber glass and just about everything else.

Re: What do you want in a new Salt knife?
I've recently become enamored with the Stretch models and can't help but think they would be almost perfect in SE LC200N. In my opinion better ergo's than the Endela (although I'm enjoying that). Oh, and toxic green would be fantastic.

Re: Native 5 with Compression Lock please!
I love the idea and have thought about it often. I have (I believe at last count) 5 Native 5's. I also have a Sage 5 both peel ply and lightweight. I would say they're not the equivalent of each other. A Native 5 with a compression lock would take up less room in the pocket given the blade doesn't h...

Re: Idea for a complement to the sharpmaker
I love this idea Sonorum. I think the other benefit of what you're proposing is some protection against the inevitable (at least in my case) drop. Having all the rods together and protected makes a great deal of sense. I've been using my Sharpmaker more recently for the kitchen touch ups so I don't ...

Re: Why the byrd Harrier 2 Ltwt is a game changer
Just received my Harrier 2 partial SE today. I'm really impressed. The FRN scales are much more comfortable than those on my recently received Byrd Hawkbill. And I think the size is really perfect for me, not to mention I'm a huge fan of choils. Would love to see this with some other SE blade option...

Re: sharpening issues
Thanks Sal and Sharp Guy that should be helpful going forward. I tend to use the SM when I need a quick fresh edge in the kitchen or for SE blades. I'll try the loup and try taking my time and going slow and see how that goes.

Re: sharpening issues
I'm glad you're bringing this up. I also get decent results on PE and my SE is not up to push cutting either. My PE edges from the sharpmaker aren't as sharp as my hand sharpened edges done on my stones. Again not sure if that's the nature of the beast or if there's something I can do to improve my ...

So far I have agree with that after receiving my Byrd Hawkbill. I'm finding myself wishing my Delica had the same choil as the Hawkbill.

Re: Give The Spyderedge A Chance Thread
Thanks to this thread decided to challenge my assumptions/prejudice on serrated blades. Just took possession of DF salt hawkbill and a Salt 2 Wharnie. Oh and just for fun ordered the Byrd hawkbill as that's a perfect platform to abuse. And just throw out there (again) I think a Salt SE Stretch would...

I'm recently on the Stretch bandwagon and would vote for that. However, I think if you want this in the most hands the Delica would be the way to go.

Re: Straight Spine Stretch
I don't post often but read much. This one has got me out of lurker mode. I have to say that this design is what I look for in a Spyderco. I have a couple Delica's, an Endura, and a Police 4 . But the Spydies that I find myself going back to time and again are the ones with choils. I have 5 (at the ...

Re: Any plans for a standard-sized Compression Lock Native?
Hello, I hate to resurrect an old post as a newbie to the forum (long-time reader though) but the Para 3 Lightweight I think begs this question be asked again. I have 3 (or is it 4 now) Para 3's and the *only* thing the bug out has going over the new Para3 LW is the overall width for pocket carry. R...
