Thanks for the input guys :) . I started the thread to find out if something like this is out of line for Spyderco QC; and enough reason to send it in creatively. I am sure I can if I try hard enough.
As ladybug said this is definitely "abnormal" but it won't compromise the function of the knife ...

Defective Native 5 Salt? First Spyderco (+Beauty Shot)
Hi guys, this is my first Spyderco! Because I moved next to the ocean and started diving I thought it should be a salt. The action, centering, and feel of the blade are excellent but I can't help but spot this that the top of the plunge grind is shaved off.
