Re: What is Mini Bugout Equivalent for Spyderco?

The Native is another super-lightweight FRN folder that is a lot less, uh, visually challenging than the Para 3. It has a backlock but this is easy to manipulate one handed.

Re: Kapara Salt

I like the Kapara's simple wire clip - it works great, while most of the fancy titanium pocket clips I've come across have been needlessly clunky and really little more than an excuse to show off machining skills (and, more often than not, bad design.) Having said that, when I saw Philip Whatsisname...

Re: Kapara exclusive or sprint

Nice idea with the yellow backspacer. That little bit of colour means a lot on the Kapara!

Just think of it as a backup! Haha
Oh I don't have a real problem with having two Kaparas - it's just they ain't cheap! (Though they feel quite reasonably priced, compared to some FRN knives where I'm not so sure, the Kapara is the priciest knife I ever bought!)

Re: Kapara exclusive or sprint

I'd be devastated to see a micarta Kapara cos I've only just purchased an original in carbon fiber. I don't need two of (despite the Kapara being one of my all time favourite folders) but I know I'd be thinking obsessively about the upgrade until I smashed my piggy bank and counted the coppers.

What's wrong with S30V? I have only one knife with it - the Kapara - but so far it's coped with all the mangoes I've thrown at it!

Re: Suggestion for changing Spyderco budget knife steel 8Cr13Mov

Doesn't matter what steel it is, if it has the word "China" in big letters on the blade it's going to lose sexiness points.

Re: Sharpening a Knife

Someone mentioned Michael Christy's videos. With all due respect I think this is not a good place to start. The whole whittling-individual-human-hairs thing is pretty weird and over the top for those of us who simply want to get a tomato knife cutting again. I understand that sharpening stuff and ma...

It’s like, how much more black could this be? And the answer is none. None more black.

Re: Appeal to bring back the stunning Titanium UK Pocket Knife

Why always titanium?
Aluminium (Google translate: Aluminum) as used on Alox SAKs and various Lionsteel integrals can be a really decent material too. Slabs of it, nicely coloured and textured, would look pretty slick on a UKPK.

Yep that orange Tenacious is super tempting and I am way older than 13!
But at that age I'd probably have picked the black blade Efficient with brown or green scales... you know, tactical!

I like the stuff on my Rhino and Schempp Bowie I ain't going to deny it, those are some awesome looking knives - but to me they'd be even awesomer with micarta! you'll be happy to know that none of the knives in this reveal have laminate scales. Spyderco's own page about the Canis contain the bone-...

Re: New reveal...Zwear/micarta Shaman, s90v Native Chief, k390 Seki series, Slysz Swayback! So much to love.

Never liked CF - aesthetics but also the weirdness of using materials that will last for thousands and thousands of years, long after the blade and eveything else has decayed. It just doesn't seem like a material we should be using on trivial things like knives. Spaceships, maybe. And the whole lami...

I don't know if the Kelly McCann Canis is part of this bunch but it's on Knifecentre's list of upcoming Spydercos.. and looking at it broke my achy-breaky heart. Why one earth did they ruin a really interesting knife with that diabolical g10/carbon fiber laminate? This is the worst possible handle m...

Re: Appeal to bring back the stunning Titanium UK Pocket Knife

Anodized titanium is always really disappointing, I find. It's seldom in the right colour, and it scratches very easily. Plain old TI would be my choice.

I wasn't mad about mine. I think it was my first Spyderco. Black G10 ... not very exciting. For a smallish blade I much prefer the Meerkat which has far more personality, or the Urban. I love cats, just not the Spyderco one!
