Re: How well does the brown/tan G10 take color?
Here is a look.
The color isn't exact to real life in the pic. In person under neutral light like sunlight it is a drab green, under interior lighting it seems a bit more drab and darker green.

Re: How well does the brown/tan G10 take color?
Not that I dislike the color, but I got the color for two reasons, the blade steel, and the ability to change to a darker color if I chose to do so. ODG is a favorite, not the most, but maybe #2 on the list.

Re: How well does the brown/tan G10 take color?
Yes, heat to a low boil, a little vinegar, I used about a quarter cup for the 3 cups of water.
I hear a little soap can help as well, but I would use only a small amount, not enough to bubble. I didn't use it, and it worked fine.
Dye for synthetics is best as well. Should permeate further.

Re: How well does the brown/tan G10 take color?
Gave it a go. The Rit Dyemore for synthetic materials worked pretty well. Their green is called Peacock Green, which is a darker green. Already close to OD as it was. I mixed it strong, half the bottle to only a few cups of water, with a little vinegar in there as well. After two minutes, the color ...

Re: What's the lowest edge retention steel you'd carry?
A second related thought... Blade steel isn't the whole story. Blade geometry plays a big role as well. A more brittle hard steel can be helped by blade shape. With the tip and tip edge tending to be the most vulnerable parts of the blade. So a thinner more pointed tip may not hold up in a hard stee...

Re: What's the lowest edge retention steel you'd carry?
None of my current carried knives are less than s30v/s35vn steel. It is a favorite, just due to the balanced nature, and overall performance to cost. I tend to go for more balanced steels... Some do this better than others, and there are some very nice balanced steels in the super steel category, th...

How well does the brown/tan G10 take color?
Looking to try for an OD green color, or close to.
Not sure how well the brown scales on my Para 2 will take color. Rit says to use green and brown mixed to get an olive green color, so I wonder if the brown in the handle will affect the color, and just using green would be enough.
