I did and never got anywhere near green lol. It was just darker, so it's all black now and it looks good if you ask me, the G10 on my blue-green Manix2 could not lighten it up either, I even tried the Rite-Dye remover, so those scales also went black and I am so glad too.

I just didn't care for the color of my Manix2 that was said to be Forest Green, all I saw was Philadelphia Eagles jersey color lol... Not a Eagles fan, I live in the area where Patrick Mahomes went to college at Texas Tech, so naturally was for the Chiefs lol...

Yeah green didn't work at all for me either so I went with black

Now that is a freaking awesome knife if you ask me. The frn scales really take the dye, especially when going from the Burgundy color to the black.

I have been able to take a locals yellow salt to a blue easy enough, not tried going to green from yellow yet, but I do think it's possible. The yellow doesn't bother me, but I really like the green and brown colors as well as the black lol.

I also like the feel of the frn scales as they tend to bite back as you hold them and I really like that. Been trolling a Manix2 Salt with the MagnaCut steel, I am going to keep on and have every Manix2 out there at the rate I am going here lately. It's that bug bite thing I am sure lol

The frn is way different than what the G10 is and why the price difference between these I figure. I did try to change my Forest Green G-10 Scales and get them more green and I fail miserably at that, but the G10 did take the black very well and I was pleased with that on my Manix2.

yep, I always wanted a blacked out Police LW. Still wish the liners were coated but otherwise I'm really happy with it.

green g10 scales are coming from ukraine so it's gonna sport the all black look for a few weeks.

Midnight blue dye on slate blue FRN makes black, apparently. Has some lovely blue highlights in the sun.

Allen Putman's jade G10 with Rit daffodil yellow.

These are the results of my Rit un-dye project, the correction of a dye job that I just didn't come out the way I wanted it to. I used a single packet of Rit dye color remover powder in about 2.5 cups of water, simmered as close to the suggested 200° F as I could keep it for exactly 20 minutes, and it a nearly removed every trace of color from my natural/jade G10 Yojumbo scales. There was just a hint of purple left around the pivot on both scales, but that's fine since I'm going to take another stab at dying them. So if anyone is looking to un-dye their G10 scales, one, or at most two, packets Rit dye color remover appears to be sufficient to do the job. Well, sufficient anyway to do the job on natural G10 that was meant to be Smokey Blue but came out looking Muddy Purple because the dye wasn't sufficiently diluted. The color remover might be more or less effective on other colors or other media, but I think at worst it would just take more than one application to completely remove the dyed color.

I am really surprised to see it removed that much of the color. That's awesome it did, for sure. I really like the natural jade color scales, I have been trolling dangerously close to two different knives online that are second hand that are in the natural jade color.

I need to quit trolling them before I buy one of them, or worse both of them lol... What color are you shooting for?

I was also quite pleasantly surprised to see how well the color came out. I was resigned to be content with the results if the scales just lightened up enough to allow them to be re-dyed blue or dark grey, but now that they're back to their natural hue and I'm not restricted to over-dying with a darker tone, I have no idea which color to go with. But I'm planning to cerakote the blade and hardware, so I think maybe I'll have that done first, then pick a color for the scales. And if I don't like how that color looks, I know now it's easy enough to fix it and try again.

I also like the look of the jade G10, but I've bought just about every BladeHQ exclusive with M4/jade G10 they've released, so I have plenty of great looking knives with unaltered jade G10 scales in my collection. Speaking of which, I think you should buy at least one of those knives you've been looking at. I mean, buying both might be kind of irresponsibly extravagant, but buying just one would be downright sensible. Responsible even. And you should have a reward for being so responsible, don't you think? Like, for example, a new knife with some jade G10 scales.

Dang, thanks a lot lol. I get to thinking like this I will buy both, heck I'm bad enough as is. I was trolling around some M4 knife this morning early, admiring that darn thing. A discontinued one, that is hard to find and pay for...

I don't have any of the G10 jade or M4 steel, that bring this to three knives I been circling hard... So you stay in your lane, I don't need help like you. My OCD is wide open for three days, now you go and say all that.

Next thing I will not only have to go back to work, I will have to go to work at Spyderco, just to support this very issue. So, stay in your lane you lol...

Wasn't happy with how my 15V Military 2 scales turned out, so I re-dyed them with some kelly green and dark green.

Decided to try dying my Manix XL scales too since they were always more brown than green.

Better but not perfect. Seems I can't get them to totally soak up the green....it looks brown & green if you zoom in.

Oh well. I'm gonna put the knives back together and stop worrying about the color and just enjoy using them.

Dang on my end here I like the look you got there. This shade of color is very much light sensitive to how we perceive the color.

My Manix2XL that I call the Camel, is basically Camel in color, yet when I sit it next to my G10 Police4 that is green, the Camel looks very close.

Green and brown really can make a rainbow of different colors, and colors I usually like. Your scales there look awesome to me!

I think the best potential for dye jobs is having the original color show/wear through. I used to think this was a problem but I've come to love how it looks. It's got me looking at colored handles in a totally different way, thinking about the potential color gradients I can make.

They look great. Mine also changes as I use them with dirty paws too... The lighter the color of mine the more they change as I use them.

a splash of white vin, splash of dawn dish soap, 1 quart of boiling water, 2/3 a cap of kelly green, 1/3 a cap of sage.
