Sal you would be praised for this!! i dont think anything beats a tanto folder. Especially a spyderco tanto folder. I love tanto's and would be all over one of these!! maybe it could be half TI and half g10 like the mili that is coming out....??  :D that would be my new edc and I could probably just sell the rest of my collection.

I'd prefer full titanium with a bead blasted finish.

 I remember being enthralled by this knife back when I was searching for my first Spyderco knife. Would love to have one of these and I dig Lum's style of knives.
Lum Tanto: Simply the best

I had never really liked Tanto blades much at all until I got my first model C-46 Spyderco Lum Tanto folder. I truly believe that the design is the best of all the tantos I've ever used or seen.
I also wish that they would re-introduce the fixed blade Lum Tanto with one of the Supersteels like ZDP-189, S90V or M-4. I always thought that AUS-8 never did that Lum Tanto fixed blade right.

My understanding is that "another brand" is doing some LUM designs including the Tanto. Sal has said they won't be doing one while the other is in production.
I WOULD like to see a Tanto in another vessel perhaps. Manix2 Tanto sprint?
Just thinking out-loud.

But on the basis of those front views, I suspect that it is set up something like the leather Moran sheath, with two layers of leather on the back and slots in the outer layer. I wouldn't be surprised, however, if the orientation of the slots is more vertical.

Thanks guys.

I would love for this to happen!!! I too have been looking for a lum tanto folder (the all black is awesome!!!) but can't seem to find one at a decent price!
ANY TYPE of sprint or new run of the Lum Tanto would just be amazing!!!!
I too like the idea of a Half ti half G10 version :) Would make a sweet framelock knife!

The original tanto folder would be nice, but I would much prefer having a more refined lock such as the compression/ballbearing lock on it. And please keep the original blade profile -- once you've handled those beautiful "apple seed" curves, those "geometric" tantos just look like ugly pieces of crap.

I love the detail of the appleseed point. It looks a lot better than the flat geometric tanto point of most other knives.

Interesting that this thread has come back to the top page. I've been carrying my black-bladed, C-46 Lum Tanto Folder for this past week and I would really love a new, revamped version of this great old classic.
But again I would also like to see them bring back the fixed blade Lum as well in one of the newer super steels. With all the great new steels out there it's just down right hard to get worked up about the old, original fixed blade Lum with the AUS-8 blade that it came out with.
I'm thinking both the folder and the fixed blade both would be well resurrected with S-90V or something similar.
Also I like what Mr. Glesser said about a possible larger sized folder than the original C-46. The Lum Tanto was truly a superb blade design.
