Hahahaha! Yes! I point that out or my wife points that out all the time.

Yes, I am aware fictional and even based on true story dramas are mostly meant to entertain. But there is a whole level of people who love to "nit pick" these performances.

Here are some examples:

Star Trek.
If the Federation has matter teleporters that can.break a person to the subatomic and atomic level and rebuild them, why do people age and get sick? Why not walk into a Transporter and reset your age? Why not walk into the Transporter and have it remove any disease?

Trekkies say it is because Federation culture opposes such things and because transporter errors would endanger the person.

Star Wars. According to George LucasFilm canon, the Star Wars Galaxy basic society has been around with Droids, Blasters, Hyper Drive, etc for 20,000 to 100,000 years. How come they do not advance to much higher technology levels?

Star Trek Earth went from Pre Warp and firearms to Warp drive, phasers, replicators, and transporters in 300 years, from 2060s to 2360s.

Soap Operas:

"Soap opera nitpicks often focus on common tropes like rapidly aging kids, unrealistic scenarios (amnesia, sudden wealth/poverty, evil twins), continuity errors (same actor plays different roles, old photos changing), plot holes, and repetitive storylines, alongside critiques of acting, pacing, and the "soap opera effect" (high frame rate look). "

A Team.
In the 1980s A Team tv series the main characters and their opponents are shooting thousands of rounds of high velocity and even fully automatic firearms at each other, yet, you hardly see the main characters get serious injury. Did they borrow some Force Field Belts from Star Trek? :)

Star Trek again.

Why are StarFleet uniforms so flimsy? Both The Original Series with James Kirk and crew and The Next Generation with Picard and crew seemed to wear uniform shirts and pants that tore easily.
If they have 23rd and 24th century nano fibers why not make rip tear proof uniforms?
I like the Feature Film uniforms and Deep Space Nine ones more.
I've got one for you, SEF. If Star Trek universe is so advanced, why do the uniforms not redirect the energy from phasers? We have bullet proof clothing, today, and we can redirect laser energy, why can't they redirect phaser and disruptor energy with their uniform materials?
Yes! This is one of the greatest thoughts on this. Thank you, Doc.

Actually no it doesn't since nobody knows exactly what technology they are, would be in the show.

It takes a forcefield to stop them from damaging ships etc. And they drain those after awhile too.

I would say they are far more advanced than lasers.

That is a really good thought as SEF said!

Maybe redirect and absorb the energy.

I think latter series said something about the ships plasma phasers? Maybe they are all plasma?

The problem with plasma is that I think it is something that has to be refilled. I am not a physicist.

And this is the same time frame as teleporters so people really think that the weapons would be easy to stop?

Seriously? ;)

The technologies are not defined. People can envision some things but it takes physicists and engineers to actually produce the items.

Phasers would be a neat technology but yep, teleportation has it beat!

Air travel would vanish as people just teleported to where they needed to go.

The technology in Star Trek so much more advanced that current humans wouldn't have a clue where to even begin to develop it. I don't believe humans have the math to actually even begin.

The whole Star Trek universe is very much advanced far beyond current human stupidity.

Another thing. According to Star Trek WW3 in the mid to late 21st century got rid of most of the corrupt people who held humanity down and First Contact plus Warp Drive got mankind into a Post Scarcity mindset. Do you believe that could happen in 50 to 100 years?

Yes you are right, it will take a complete overhaul of physics and math to make the technologies work. We aren't where we need to be.

Teleportation and probably phasers will require a complete mastery of quantum physics, and we are nowhere near that. We are at the very beginning of mastering quantum technologies.

That and the whole human society would have to be much more advanced and completely different that what it is now.

I doubt humans will last long enough for any of it to happen though.

Regarding quantum physics, did you know that China and the US have satellites that somehow employ quantum technologies? Not sure what they are doing.....

I read about this maybe less than 5 years ago.

I doubt humans last that long though.

They will kill themselves off long before they would ever become that advanced.

As long as I'm long gone before that happens ...

If they keep fighting over Ukraine, bad things are going to happen. Europe, Iran and Russia may get into it. Iran said the other day that they are at war with EU and US. Some European countries are telling their people to have 72+ hours worth of food, water and firewood on hand in case anything happens.

Nobody on the planet will be safe if WW III kicks off. Nowhere to hide. Nukes will be used.
