We have to take that into consideration in our designing. Different knife afi's like or dislike certain features. The reason might be a functional feature, a perceived value like edge/blade/handle ratios, appearance, materials or even color. That's why variety is important. Designing for afi's has its challenges because the interest and passions drives the desire for deeper understanding, which means thedy know the difference in many things and have definite thoughts on those features.

Not to sound like a kiss *** Sal but i think you guys do an awesome job catering to us afi's. I don't know many other companies that take in this much input from their customers and turn it around into a product. I think it would be really awesome if you set up a tour at the warehouse showing some past prototypes of things like a choiled Delica that never made it into production.

We're always working on new displays for the outlet store. I'll keep that in mind.

Well the current Delica is possibly my favorite pocket knife. Whoever designed the ergos on it must have pretty much the same hands I do. It's like it was molded for me.

When Eric and I are designing or refining a model, we use the hands of many to try to refine the ergos.

The only problem I have with the gap is with my Endura; I carry it tip down RH, and open it with a Spydiedrop. When I draw the knife a little sloppy, the gap sometimes catches my pocket.

A choil would totally ruin the Delica IMHO. Making the D look like a giant DFly would be unwise. There is a reason for the Deli to be so populair. Its not the looks I guess, but the feel! Grab it and you're sold for life. Personally I don't find the gap between the blade and the handle an issue at all. If you take a look at the Fallkniven U2 you'll see that the blade sticks out in closed position. Now that would be a dealbreaker for me. In case of my (beloved) Delica it falls in the package and, again, the feel of the knife in your hand wipes any so-to-say aesthetics away just like that.

I think, in term of aesthetics, the Delica is a beauty.

I have to agree that the Centofante is indeed a good looking knife. I really like the silver spyder on it.
I like to keep one for formal occasions.

I have been looking at the Delica designs. I have to agree that removing the gap may be quite impossible. As doing so will indeed destroy the ego of the handle. But of course, this does not stop me from loving spyderco

What he said! The gap is important in one hand closing - leave it be. Delicas and Enduras are beautiful.

How about making a larger version of the Dragonfly? That would be a sweet knife. No liners, just like the small one.

It's only a month since I bought my first Spyderco. I love my Enduras, and especially my Delicas. But I can't say I find either aesthetically beautiful. I never noticed the gap untill this thread pointed it out. As far as looks, it makes no difference.

I love these knives because they feel so right in my hand and work so well. That makes me not in favor of any changes thet would change how they feel or work.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I haven't seen any model where 1/4 of the choil is on the blade and 3/4 of the choil is on the handle. Would that be a 25/75 or 75/25 choil?

A 50/50 choil seems to make good aesthetics while closed, I'm not sure how the above weighted choil would affect the looks while the knife is closed.

But... this would probably make for an entirely new model, not so much of a Delica.

The Delica is the Goldilocks of carry knives (not too big, not too small, etc.). Pretty much perfection. If it ain't broken don't fix it.

The FFG model has shifted to the black Endura/Delica. I would imagine that the 6 different colors would come to an end at some point. I wonder if the most popular color would stay in production.

Also, what IS the most popular color?

I don't judge a knives looks while closed. That is sort of like saying an F-16 looks clunky on the ground with the landing gear down. But to each their own.

As for choils, I ONLY like them on knives where I don't have to use them if I don't want to (like the Para Military 2). That being said the Endura could pull this off but not the Delica. For many in the MBC crowd, there is a certain cult following for the Delica (for a few reasons I won't get into here)... Put a 50/50 choil on it and it is useless for this application. Between the Sage, Native, and Caly 3... There are more than enough knives that come equipped with 50/50 choils in this size range.
