A Manix2-based SE hawkbill would be a grail knife IMO. However, I think it would be easier to convince the Spydercrew to do a Superhawk sprint in SE and G10.

I'd buy a byrd hawkbill (the new design) in G10 and it wouldn't shock me if that were on a drawing board given how many other Byrds have fine G10 models.

I'm down for any hawkbill especially spyderedge.

In Sequemite's latest thread he saw a prototype of a small/thin hawkbill from Ed Schempp. No pics as it was a proto but sounds almost like a Balance.

Brother you are saying exactly what I hear everyone say that has owned and used a G-10 handled Harpy>> everyone that I've talked to either on this forum or anywhere else has told me that the G-10 Handled Harpy makes all the difference in the world as far as being easier to use and being much more functional.

I don't mind using the stainless handled Harpy but the G-10 version is so much more comfortable and controllable that it's like a completely different model all together. With the re-newed popularity that the Police model has enjoyed with the re-introduction of that model in the G-10 handle you just know that the Harpy would also generate some serious interest.

What if you make a nice FFG hawkbill blade, similar to the Superhawk (maybe slightly slimmer) and put it in a modified Stretch 2 handle? Of course available in full spyderedge and in maybe either FRN or G-10 scales. How does that sound? :spyder:

No objections by me :) the only gripe I ever had with the Superhawk was that it was never offered up in Spyderedge :confused:

Now I do like the more radical curve of the Spyderhawk for some cutting jobs but there would be nothing I would object to that you described. I think a ball bearing lock would make such a creature nice :cool:

I would love to see the caly 3.5 turned into a hawkbill, same form factor and as much of a hawkbill as you can fit into the same space. I would be ok with less of a hook.

G-10 Harpy would be perfect...also like the Bullhawk idea...name is cool too...

To me the G-10 Harpy was the very best, all purpose Hawkbill folder Spyderco has made up till now. With the steady sales of the Harpy and the newly aquired popularity of the Police model in G-10 it only makes sense to give the G-10 Harpy another shot at stardum IMO.

I'm not going to give up on the idea of a fixed blade hawkbill either. The more I think about a fixed blade Hawkbill in the H-1 Salt Series it just seems to make perfect market sense. I do hope that this thread being brought up again gets the conversation going if nothing else.

Also a G-10 handled, VG-10 Spyderhawk or Superhawk sounds like a great Sprint Run to me.

I would LOVE to see a G10, SE Harpy or Tasman Slipit in H1 steel too! I think a lot of nautical and fishing folk would appreciate a Slipits ease of use and the H1 is handy, obviously with a decent finger choil put in. :)

That's nice Zackerty :cool: That's really nice :) I can only imagine the ferocity it would have with a Spyderedged blade :eek:

Personally the only adjustment I would make for myself would be just to modify the handle just a bit>> make it with either a G-10 or Micarta scales and narrow it down by just few millimeters.

And trust me folks there would be many uses for a fixed blade hawkbill of that caliber. :cool:

I would see this in Torx type screw contruction, to allow users to fit their own scales...

The others that I did with rounded tips and shorter blades, were all 3/8 inch Micarta and Corby bolts...

Like this Boomerang, they all were bead blasted for exceptional grip...

Daywalker might pipe up if he sees this thread?

I hope Daywalker pops in on this thread :cool: He really helped propel the old big Hawkbill thread that Dr. Lecter and I concocted some time back :D If I remember correctly I believe you also contributed to it as well Zackerty. Oh well enough of a history lesson for today :rolleyes:

I love all your suggestions. Actually having the removable scales would probably negate my need to narrow the handle down. I love everything about your Boomerang design and like I said I bet it would be like a Great White Shark if equipped with a Spyderedge :cool:

I would love some type of sheath like the old original FB05 Temperance 1 model had>> Mine was one of the Tek-Lok sheaths. I truly believe that would be a great sheath for a fixed blade Hawkbill of that style.

Would love to hear yours and other's suggestions for a sheath. Because to me most of Spyderco's successful fixed blades also had great sheaths like the Temp 1 and the Streetbeat both had.

Hawkbills by their very own nature are radical in the knife world :) And I'll be the first to admit that they are not for everyone. So I guess you got to be at least somewhat radical to be drawn to them :D

A fixed blade hawkbill just makes sense. Spyderco has already thrown a wide array of Hawkbill folders at us so it's high time we got a taste of a fixed blade version.

Hawkbills are great at "controlled pull cutting" so it only stands to reason that a fixed blade hawkbill would be a superior tool for those types of cutting chores. A fixed blade hawkbill would give you the added stability for better control IMO.

Maybe a fixed blade hawkbill could be funny.
