Yes the old jimping was like 4 big tank tracks. The Salt had it, the Pacific Salt had it, the Military had it, and the Chinook still has it. The Manix did too.

I also prefer the old jimping to the new smaller style.

C'mon guy's there is a huge difference between the jimping in the original pic and JD's pic. While that style of jimping might not always be finished to the same level as we are now used to. The jimping in Mb cooks pic looks like a complete hack job.
P.s here's a pic of the Chinook's jimping, I know it's not quite the same, but as you can see the finish is much better

Hey folks,
The first time I came to this thread I only saw the pic that "J Smith" had posted. I didn't know there was a picture from "mbcook76". It must have not loaded. Now that I have seen it I can tell you that it is messy. The very top jimp looks ground down or something. I don't think it's anything I would send a knife back for but it does look sub-par.

I've seen this type of jimping before. The bottom doesn't have any jimping on these models. I personally prefer the typical one better.

The linerlock teeth on my Millie were messed up from the get go, and they would have probably replaced if I had sent it in, but I never did, it still functioned as it should.
The OP's Para Jimping looks uneven and poorly ground, but still functional. It will probably be replaced if sent in, but that is up to you. Personally, since it is on the back and I'd see it more often, it would bug me. I'd probably at least give W&R a call to check into it, either that or talk to the purchasing dealer

Thanks everybody for taking a look. I'm pretty new to Spyderco knives and I learned a couple of things. From what I read here, this is a type of jimping used on the s30V Paras. Mine does not seem to be well done so I contacted the company I bought it from.
I did order it online so I wasn't able to inspect it, but I also purchased a FG Para which was perfect.
I have emailed the company to see what they say, then I'll make the best of the situation.
Thanks again for all the help!

This type of 4 ridge jimping was used only on older runs. I have had Paramilitaries and Manixes (Manices?) with both styles of jimping, the 4-ridge and the finer jimping. I like the older 4-ridge better, go figure.

I would also expect a repair or replacement as I would also not expect that from a high end knife.

The OP gimping does not look right based on the shadows of the ridges. The first ridge looks like it has a small piece of metal bent.
