Karen's predictions.... :-)

UK Pen knife - reason... it will be illegal to own any knife except a plastic butter knife in the UK in 10 years.

Pacific/Atlantic salts - reason... new super steels like Sal-o-steel and spydo-steel will make h1 production too expensive and obsolete. ;)

The best selling knife will be the "Vex Avenger", since Spyderco will have all the legal rights to all Benchmade designs after the bankruptcy and forced sale of BM for 1 cent on the steps of an Oregon courthouse. :D

I agree with Brian I also think that the Ronin will be a CLASSIC. But I'm not going to stop there in the fixed blade department. I will also add the following:
FB Temperance
Fixed blade LUM Tanto
FB Perrin ( 1st model)

In the folder category I have the following to consider:
The Titanium ATR
Yojimbo
Dodo
and almost any of the first generation Carbon Fiber folders.
These will be safe bets.

I would have to go with the Kris and the Kopa production runs. It doesn't seem that there is a lot of interest in the Kris much like the Zowada in its day.

Which current knives in the future will be the hot items to have in a collection in ten or 15 years?
Maybe the new S? or maybe the Adventura or maybe the Volpe. How about a Poliwog.

What drives a knife to be a classic?

Your thoughts?
I thought it all started from a simple question :D

I really like the Persian, though i've never handled it. It appeals to my eyes, and I'm sure it would do the same to my hands. It's just an artwork.

I'm going to have to go with collaborations, too: the entire Lum family, (folders and FB) and the Ronin. Plus one other candidate that I think is an exceptional knife: the Massad Ayoob.

 Ouch! That was painful to miss.... Would have had one if I'd seen it :(

If they discontinue the UKPK it'll be highly sought after in Europe and be treasured by anyone traveling in this part of the world.

I gotta throw the Manix in the mix. I think this beefy folder will be in high demend one day when it has been discon'ed.
