The S&W Bodyguard 2.0 is all that and a bag of chips. I live in a 10 round max State so I'm hoping that someone comes up with a magazine finger extension soon. The ergos with the stock 10 round mag are still quite good though.

are you allowed to use 12 rd mags and not fill them up or is that a no no? never lived in a state with those restrictions so maybe a dumb question.

I rented a Bodyguard 2.0 last week and was impressed with how well it shot. That being said, I'll likely buy a LCP Max instead because they're nearing $200 for the 75th anniversary edition. Different ballpark of price for me, even if less pleasant to shoot.

I own both and the $$ difference is worth it to me. ymmv. I found the ruger rusted very easily carried AIWB in the summer while I've never rusted any S&W auto after decades of use and carry. BG2.0 has a much better trigger too.
Ruger LCP Max is very nice for the $$ but the BG2.0 is definitely a cut above.

And another thing, Texas and probably most other states allow bird hunters to plug their shotguns to a maximum of three shots including the one in the chamber. So why don't the 10 round states allow pistol owners to plug high capacity magazines?

The 10 round limitation doesn't allow mag plugs. Smith & Wesson Bodyguard 2.0 models come with two 10-round mags here. It's annoying because I could use the extra length that the 12-round mag offers. As it is I'll be looking for aftermarket finger extensions when they eventually hit the market.
Regarding how the Smith compares to the LCP Max, there is no comparison. I had both to the range over the weekend and the Smith wins on ergos and felt recoil by a significant margin, with significantly less muzzle flip than the Ruger. The trigger is also significantly better. I'll be selling my LCP Max and won't miss it at all. The Smith with the 10 round mag is almost the same grip length as the Ruger with a 12 round mag (I bought the Ruger prior to the mag restriction law being enacted). Also worth noting that the Ruger often pinches my trigger finger, while the Smith absolutely does not.
I put 150 rounds through the Smith without a hiccup, and it was as comfortable at round 150 as it was at round 1. After 50 rounds in the Ruger I'm ready for a break. The worst thing I can say about the Smith is that the rear sight has too wide of an opening. The slide release and safety are both pretty stiff out of the box but they are braking in nicely with use. I will be picking up an XS sight set when they get released.

I definitely agree with you @vivi and @olywa that the Bodyguard is a better firearm, but I was budget constrained. The 75th Anniversary Edition also has a stainless slide, so I am less worried about rust, and an updated trigger shoe to address trigger bite. I did not experience any trigger bite.

This is about the last scope I bought.
It dawned on me that I really don't like shooting.
I just like to drink beer afterwards.
So excuse me if I slur my words.
I decided that my AR15 rifle
deserved a real scope
so I moved the red dot to my AR15 pistol
and acquired a modest Triton Mariner.
Today, I finally got around to sighting it in.
The Triton Mariner may have bitten off
more than it can chew.
Like many scopes today,
it has a bullet drop compensating reticle
and also has windage ticks on the left
and shoulder width ranging ticks on the right.
And a red + and circle for snap shots.
But the half inch increments at 100 yards
are a clue that it may not be a precision optic.
In any event, it should be good enough
for a barbecue gun.
At my age, 77, I am past my best by date
and tire quickly.
It only takes six rounds or so
before my accuracy begins to deteriorate.
Blessed with my own rifle and pistol ranges
there is no pressure
to try and get my money's worth
out of a range session.
The target below is nothing to brag about.
It was gusty and unseasonably warm.
The pteragyn and cataract in my shooting eye
are in a race to see which one blinds me.
Give me a second and I will think of more alibis.
To sight in the new scope
I used my 1,000 inch target stand, 27.8 yards,
a carryover from my days in the Army
more than 50 years ago.
25 meters is the standard zero now
in the modern metric Army.
984 inches so things have not really changed that much,
just 16 inches.
Too cheap to fire three rounds,
I fired two, made an adjustment,
fired two and so forth
until I was on target.
I forgot my sand bags and improvised
with a chunk of wood and a tow rope
dampener safety blanket.
My friends,
cherish your youth, health,
strength, endurance,
and eyesight.
With age there is only contentment.

Faithful readers, you may wonder
if I sighted in my red dot on my AR15 rifle,
as previously discussed,
did I sight it in again
when I moved it to the AR15 pistol?
This morning I did indeed sight it in.
So windy I could not keep my hat on
but the range points due north
and the wind was out of the south
and my bench is next to a treeline
that extends for the first 100 yards
which mitigates any cross wind gusts.
And I'm only shooting 25 meters.
See how I've gone metric there.
This unseasonably warm weather for February
is too nice not to take advantage of.
If this is global warming, give me more.
In September of 2018,
I purchased for a mere $369
the ATI Omni Hybrid Maxx AR pistol in 300 BLK
but did not fire it until this morning.
Those cartridges look weird
and remind me of the time
I seated a 150 grain 30 caliber bullet
in a friend's M1 carbine spent cartridge as a gag.
Back in the day when I was into reloading.
But I digress.
But yes, I got her sighted in.
And then co-witnessed
the modest flip up iron sights
that I had installed years ago.
In the down position they are not visible in the optic.
Flipped up they are just about right.
An adjustment to the windage
on the rear sight got me on the dot.
Elevation is adjusted with the front sight,
an SKS/AK style post that screws up and down.
I have the tool for it but it was back at the house.
The front sight post is just under the dot
instead of splitting the dot in half.
I will get around to it in the fullness of time.
My apres-shooting beer tastes great.
I've been in a very good mood
the last few weeks for some reason.
Have a good Super Bowl weekend my friends.

but not to my surprise it will not work.
There are inexpensive front sight tools for AR-15s
but I resisted the urge to add to my tool collection
and used one of the field expedient methods
found by Googling around a bit.
The bullet point method is a popular one.
Depress the tiny plunger and rotate the front sight.
My Spyderco knife point will also work.
Yet one more armorer tool on the ClipiTool Standard.
I was able to find my SKS front sight tool

Since my last post, on buying a Glock Gen5 17L, well, I liked that 17L so much, I put another on lay-away, last December, and then recently paid it off. Yes, I do sometimes like to have favored firearms in pairs. The Glock 17L, especially the Gen5, with its ample slide serrations, is an excellent Old Man’s Orthopedic Pistol. Life is good!
While that second Glock 17L was waiting, in lay-away, in January, I found a pre-owned Ruger Single Six, blued, with a 4.6” barrel, and two cylinders, .22 LR and .22 WMR, at a different local gun store. Rimfire handguns are friendly to aging hands, too. I had already bought a pre-owned stainless steel Single Six, .22 WMR only, with a 5.5” barrel, last spring, but wanted to find one with a 4.6” barrel, too, and since the shorter Single Sixes seem to be quite rare, I did not want this one to get away.
I had become accustomed to handling single action sixguns that were design copies of the Colt SAA, and had found Ruger Blackhawks to just not feel quite right, not necessarily in that order. That had caused me to ignore Ruger Single Sixes, for decades. Last year, the desire to practice single-action thumb-cocking, while shooting, with low recoil, prompted me to actually handle a Single SIx, and, lo and behold, the Single Six felt “right.” (I had bought an S&W K-Frame .22 LR revolver long, long ago, but, its small hammer spur is not so nicely cock-able.) I regret not having started buying Single Sixes 40+ years ago!

Some states allow this for hunting with semi auto rifles. You can buy a mag insert that turns a 10rd into a 5. Some companies did pin mags back in the ban days too. It was not an easy thing to take out though.

In the mood for a new budget rifle.
Something that'd be fun for target shooting at my buddies rural property, chambered in a common round, that's not too dinky like .22
Just started browsing.
So far I like the looks of some of the budget AR's I've seen in the $500-900 range, like the diamondback firearms DB15CCBV2 .223/5.56 AR15 Rifle for $600 or so.
Could also pick up my first AK. I can buy them locally for $500-700. Never shot one, heard good things about em.
Also like the looks of the kel-tec sub 2000 gen2 9mm carbine. They're around $450.
Could always go dirt cheap and grab a hi-point carbine
but with how much their hand guns jammed on me in the past I'd rather spend a few more bills.
What else do you recommend I look at?
