That's Exquisite! You have a talent.
Oh, Sal.
I seem to have gone and embarrassed myself... again. While it's true that I sometimes use my vocabulary to turn my thoughts into awkward prose, or my lathe to turn my ideas into functioning machines, that poem isn't entirely my own creation.
You know how you might get a new knife, so for the next week you're in the kitchen cutting up breakfast, lunch, and dinner? Or maybe a new camera on your phone, so you find yourself shooting everything that you come across throughout your day? Well I found a new tool that I've become enamored with, and they call it AI. It's been great for helping direct me to the answers to technical questions. But it's also a fun toy for goofy stuff, like drawing pictures or writing "fluff" articles.
When I was sitting here thinking about how "Proto-X" sounded like a cool name for a knife steel or 80's New Wave Band, it occurred to me that it might be fun to tell the AI to write a poem about it. I gave the AI a single-sentence request, and the poem you read was the result. I don't think I'm guilty of plagiarism, but I don't think I can take credit for the writing. But if it brought a little cheer to you or the other folks at Spyderco, then I'm unapologetic and happy.
Enjoy your Tuesday!
Rob
Hi Rusty Iron,
Thanx for setting the record straight. Please do not ask AI to write a poem about Spyderco. I prefer humans to do that.
thanx,
sal
Although you asked Rusty Iron not to have AI create a poem, you didn’t ask me not to!
Spyderco and Sal Glesser the Knife Pimp
In the realm of blades so fine,
Where every cut aligns,
There stands a man, a knife pimp divine,
Sal Glesser, the king of design.
From Golden, Colorado’s embrace,
Spyderco's fame did not race,
But leap and bound, a global chase,
With pocket clips and serrated grace.
His knives, a symphony of steel,
In every hand, a story to feel,
From Para 3 to Bodacious deal,
Each one a masterpiece, a tale.
The pocket clip, a signature sign,
A hole round, not just a design,
For one-handed flip, a sign,
Of innovation, a timeless find.
Sal Glesser, the world’s knife pimp,
Crafts blades that make hearts skip,
In every pocket, a trusty grip,
Spyderco’s legacy, a timeless trip.
So here’s to Sal, the knife pimp true,
And Spyderco, the brand we pursue,
In every cut, a dream come through,
A testament to what we can do.
