I also would love to see the wildland firefighter knife made. I think it would be a great to have a knife made specifically for those professionals. I had one made for structural firefighters that are available now. They require quite different needs.

Umm wasn’t quite done with the second knife parameters but thanks, I think, Heather for posting picture. Love sketching out different knives or mods of knives based off what I think I would need/like or as in the case of the second one I was listening to a history podcast. The first knife sketched is based off of my growing passion for carving wood.

Well, a lot of interesting and deep thought went into many of these concepts. Right now we are way behind on collaboration designs. I have a few (Shawn Houston, etc), Eric has a few. But I had the thought that it might be an interesting project to have a contest ? Kristi would probably have to Drive it, and I've just given her another project to Drive, so it would be way off in the future. Just sharing thought.

ALL IN on a design contest!!!
I have dozens of designs already locked and loaded, so any indication of a contest and I'll be giving 110% from the start!

That sounds amazing! I would love to take part in that! However ...
I sometimes THINK I know everything I would want in a "perfect folder," but when reality hits, I realize I lack any "it factor" to actually design a real working model. I'm not an engineer or a knife maker / designer. So I'll leave it to those who CAN design a mechanical device like a folding knife. OR a fixed blade, if that's what someone wants to design.

Love it. Guess I’m in but got to be honest I’m always nervous cause I’m very much an amateur and my wife usually gets fed up and posts my drawings for me. Guess she can only take me me saying yeah maybe I’ll post it before see gets exasperated.

Eh, I'd surely lose a design contest, I don't like a lot of what seems to be popular lol. Would be fun to watch though.

I did this to a Sage 5. No more forced finger placement. I have a nice round hump for my thumb. The hole is chamfered and the spine is crowned. It's perfect.
Well, if it had a crisp detent and ran on Skiff bearings, it'd be perfect.
Here it is in carry context and also next to a stock version for comparison.

Basically a Manix 2, but with a Wharncliffe blade, tip offset to about 15 degrees to give knuckle clearance, and add a swedge on the top inch of the tip.
The handle is pretty much perfect to me, but a deep carry clip would be nice. Then because the blade offset probably wouldn't be compatible with the CBBL, a compression lock would do instead. Or basically any lock that allows one-hand opening/closing without any fingers needing to be in the way if the blade or choil (so no back/mid lock). Maybe a Superlock.
Sorry but I don't want to embarrass myself with a sketch lol

There's ways to close lockbacks one handed without putting your hand in the way of the edge.
