A quick sketch. I like a little shape to the top of a sheep’s footie type blade.
Stoney i love your draft.
The straight back line and the blade shape are awesome.
Thank you, I’m not very adept at drawing knives but the conversation got me into tryin lol. Super cool that we are able to bounce ideas around with Sal. We are definitely fortunate for the amount of interaction and consideration we get from the staff at Spyderco. Very cool.

Hi Doc,
I have a few drawings. I'm working remote right now. Thanx for the tickle, I'll pull them out.

Thank you sir. I'd love to be a fly on the wall, but alas I understand it cannot be.

Got my roadie. Super design, easy to open, not so easy to close - that's a good thing.
Need to start cutting things...

I really like the look of this design, Jazz. It reminds me a lot of a slimmer Pingo, which I have been wanting to try but have not been able to find (besides the Elmax/Ti) and not at a reasonable price.
Looks great IMO
[+1] for this design & specs, awesome!

On the European Travel post …

Hi Meadowlark,
The "Roadie" and Roadie 2" should be OK anywhere in Europe.

Are there any details about the Roadie 2?

Hmm someone revived an old thread that I like. Wonder what ever came of this discussion? Is another version going to be made? Or did this just die?
I’ve considered the Roadie several times but decided to pass on it for several reasons. I like the length of blade (could go longer though), height of blade and the finger choil. The reasons I never got it was I wanted several things in a blade like that and they are - a thinner blade, wharncliff, longer handle and better blade steel. A longer handle would make it ideal for carving. Carving is what got me looking at the Spyderco blades that were not tall and that’s why I checked this one out briefly

The design I have has a tip up L/R wire clip. It's also more "pointy".
I think I'll try a 2.6" blade.

This description has me excited for the 2.

I was just using one of my Roadies to open a package and thought that a more slicey blade would be nice.

As a starting point I’m pondering whether the Roadie 2 prototype is based on an existing handle, and if so, which one, or a new bigger version of the original.
Will this be an alternative to the Metropolitan, with its’tween UKPK and Urban dimensions, I wonder?

Hi ChrisinHove,
The Roadie 2 is a larger version of the concept.
The original Roadie was designed to meet the legal requirements for carrying a knife on board flights n Europe, which was also being considered in the US for flights. As it turned out the Unions in the US shot it down to be legal on US flights. We decided to build it anyways to test the concept as a simple "Portable Edge".
Then through discussions here and other testing, we decided that a larger version would be very useful as a simple way to carry a sharp edge with you without all of the "features" of more sophisticated designs. The model that we're testing has an overall blade length of 2-3/4" including the finger choil, and a cutting edge of 2-1/4". Wire clip. New larger FRN handle.

Is the new Roadie 2 design still going to feature the Double Dent?
I view the double dent as an ingenious alternative solution to a traditional nail-nick. It's simple, clean, creative, effective, and most importantly still maintains the essence of the Spyderco "round hole."

I just got my Roadie (1) today. Cool mini pocket knife. I think the larger version will be a purchase for me, provided it won"t be too long for the 5th pocket.

Hoping for a salt version of either the original or the 2! It’s still exciting even without a salt option though.
