I hope the final result doesn't stray too far from the original. Many people had their likes and dislikes about certain features of the C69 but there was something about it that made it as popular and collectible as it is today.

I must say, how on earth did I let myself pass on this before. I can use a three or sub-three inch folder in the stable. I am sorry to say guys, unless the ergos are spot on, I need the full length handle for my large mits. Take it for what it is worth, a 3 inch performer with a nice bite.

Although a 3.5 would be sweet. Sal, I am looking forward to this one either way. Take care all and God Bless. :D

I would prefer the new one to be exactly the same, except for the clip.

Thanks for the thread.

OK i am new here but would like to say a little about my Lil Temp first and foremost is i love the handle it fits really good in my hand. The Clip is a little different from what i am use to. I would like to see a low rider clip, S30V steel and Orange G-10 Handles. make them for left handed users. This is first knife forum i have seen were the owner takes the time too read what every one has to say. I am now addicted to Spyderco knifes.

hi Kingshoc,

Welcome to the spyderco forum and thanx much for the kind words.

The entire "business chain" from; raw materials, invention, design, manufacturing, marketing, selling, distributing, shipping, warrantees, insurance, credit, etc. ALL EXISTS to service the ELU (End Line User). Remove the ELU from the equation and the entire business chain falls like a house of cards. We all work for you!

Who else would I talk to?

The only things I did not like about the first one was the clip(3 screw metal clip would be best for me),finger groves(felt good but did make it too wide) and the horn on the top of the scale near the blade. That horn seemed to catch in my pocket every time I tried to take the knife out.

We think we've got the design down. Some compromises, some things we learned from the first model. We'll make a proto, go into a limited productionof a G-10 variant, probably black or foliage green. This is a fairly design specific model and not the kind that wants to be loud, in my opinion.

Once we get feedback from the initial "2" model, then we have all of the options;

Keep it low volume (expensive) high line.
Make an afi version and an FRN version.
Drop the concept.

I'll try to keep the thread up to date. you have to help.

An S90V Rhino Horn; please?

Any Ideas on BLADE STEEL??? Man this would be a great blade to use S90V, D-2 or M-4. I hope above all it will be a CPM premium blade steel.

Also my biggest hope is that it will available in the RHINO HORN blade ;)

The plan is to make it in Seki. They have the skill and the capacity to make a compression lock Lil' Temperance. In that case we'd probably use VG-10.

With all due respect Mr. Glesser I'm sort of sad to hear that. Because the LIL Temperance is one blade I'll always remember as a Golden Co USA blade. To me it was just a slam dunk/home run with CPM blade steel and USA construction. I was hoping that it would be again made at Golden CO :( .

Nothing at all against Seki made Spyders. I own and adore many of them. But the Golden Made Spyders are really special to me and always will be. Well if they make one of the new ones with the Rhino Horn blade I'll probably still get one ;)

Foliage green sounds good!
Will there be a wire clip and lanyard hole?

Respectfully OTOH, Spyderco lives and dies on the quality of its knives. Golden/USA may have an emotional quality which is important, but my main priority is getting a tool that is well-made and works well. If Sal is confident that Seki can produce a well-made knife (and he obviously is and has been) of a model that I really really like, with all the features I want in a knife, then I have no hesitation whatsoever in buying a Seki-made knife.

Just my $0.03.

At this point I'm losing interest. :(

I hoped the new Lil' Temperance was in the same high "level" of the old one, but now I see too much compromises for my taste.

I'm sure it will be a good knife, but probably not great as its predecessor.

second version is the best. Option #3 doesn't sound good at all. Lil T is my favorite tank.

Good to hear that the Li'l Temp 2 is still making strides towards production. It has been a long wait. Personally I prefer Seki made knives, their fit and finish always seems just a tiny hair better than the US made knives. I'm curious how well they do on such a new concept as the compression lock.

I favor foliage green on the first run, it would be an excellent hommage to the original green Li'l Temp, and I'll gladly volunteer for testing and evaluation! :D
