Put the Shaman Salt through its paces while doing trail maintenance early this morning:

It's weird feeling this tempted to buy a model I wrote off years ago. That salt version looks so good. Trying to hold out for the Manix XL....

I'm with you, the freaking new scales on the Salt's make all those knives look so good, I want to buy all those models.

Being honest with myself though, if that blade is less than 4", Jeb just flat won't carry them. Heck it's just like the killer G10 orange Sage5 I have with the awesome Rex121 steel and I can't make myself use that knife. It's a freaking really nice knife too, with the tune up and hone I put on it...

Bring out the big boy Big Sal...That Manix 2XL Salt I am look so forward to getting.

It's performed rather well for the work and outdoors tasks I've used it for so far, but if the non-Salt Shaman didn't float your boat originally, the Salt version probably won't change your mind unless you really, really need (or want) a particularly beefy folder in MagnaCut, and if that's the case, I suggest holding out for the Manix 2 XL Salt given that you like the Manix 2 XL platform better. The Shaman Salt has the benefits that come with being a Golden-made G10 Salt model, sure, plus all the features I love in the Shaman (generous grip area for a folder, contoured edges & corners on the handle scales, pivot bushing that keeps the action consistent, Compression Lock, no thumb ramp), but it also retains the aspects that make the Shaman a polarising design for certain folks such as a blade stock thickness and relatively obtuse grind that could be considered overkill in a folder, the little protruding finger choil nubbin that annoys some people when closing the knife, etc.

You Dawg! I didn't know you owned one of those (or I forgot!). Recent acquisition, or a favorite of yore?

Nice shot! That's what I carried to work today.

Image

After work I switched to this one I just got back.

I had it out on loan for a few years and nearly forgot about it. Plan to spend some time polishing it up real nice, and it definitely needs a good sharpening!

That was rough being down to only 4 Street Beats for a while :rofl
Thanks @vivi 👊 yeah it’s a great knife…I need you to loan me a Gen1 black Pacific, I’ll get it back to you in 2031 🤣

Paul,

What surprises me about Dan's Sage there is which side he has the clip on lol... I think what Dan is trying to do is get me to edc on both sides lol...

With how many pockets I have, and with how many I like to edc all on my right side now; well that would be like opening Pandora's box with me lol. I have things really wrong with me anymore and especially since the spyder bite lol.
