I have a lot of the collab models, there's a Rock Lobster in my pocket right now.

If I had to pick one for the top of the pile it would be the Spidiechef.

But honorable mentions for everything Slysz, Perrin, the aforementioned Rock Lobster, the Kapara, the Stovepipe, and the list goes on.

First to mind... Hollow ground M4, great balance, perfect size for my tastes, carries much better than the GB1, classy AF.

You know I love some others, but right now I can't think of a better EDC user than the retired Hall of Famer GB2.

Gayle Bradley 2, Sprig, BBB 15V (esp in the Military 2).

Would still love to see another run of the Sprig in some kind of non-stainless tool steel...ideally Cruwear or K390, since more 15V is probably out with Crucible gone.

Put my money where my mouth is and just ordered another before they are gone. Far from the $112 I paid brand new when they dropped, but there are a few sites with them on sale now that they are disco'd.

How many GB2's do you have? I got a backup for my GB2 last year. It's the only knife I have ever bought a backup for.

PS: added at the top in case you are text phobic and would never survive the trip to the last lines.
Wanted to mention the C171TIBLP Mike Draper Folder Titanium with Blue Spyder web graphics . "only" VG-10 but the handle shape is perfect for me (could use a little jimping on the top . . . I've got a file around here some where . . . just joking . . . blade shape is super good for me tool ! I get along FINE with VG-10
ALSO NOT MENTIONED SO FAR :
Reinhold Rhino Folding Knife - Black Carbon Fiber Handle with PlainEdge, Full-Flat Grind, CTS XHP . From the images I thought I would never like that handle in a million years (thought it was too thin and the ginormouse cut out for the lock is always a turn off for me . . . in the same breath that PERFECT negative blade angle and PERFECT size kept calling to me . Covid check pushed me over the edge.
Love that thing ! Not a trailing point sort of guy but . . . love that thing ! Handle ergos GOOD.

and
Brad Southard Positron ! Blade shape and length perfect for me ; polished full flat ! ! ! the first S30V I went crazy reprofiling thin behind the edge = no problem !
Love the fat handle (now that is FAT CARBON in my book). Jimping at least on the blade spine . Makes me smile every time I pick it up ! ! !

My original post :
Thought my all time fave was the Gayle Bradley 2. I have two GB2s ; one I full flat ground thin and reprofiled (after years I am just now coming around to appreciate the ergos of the GB 1 ; have always loved to look at it and handle it though) . . .
ALWAYS love carrying and using the GB 2 ! ! !
and looking at it ; I would never change those stock scales.

THEN Lance Clinton's Siren came out . . . OMG !
I'm one of those ill informed people who is a sucker for coarse G10 . . . and the blade shape is about perfect for me ! Handle shape super good for me too . (bought two of those; one reground thin / thin . . . then the S90V came out and it was TAKE MY MONEY !

In theory the Kapara should be the prefect EDC for me , handle shape and narrowish blade , in practice I like it and use it in the kitchen but just too slick . . . but NO ; you can't buy it from me ; never never .

Baby Jess Horn G10 SUCH A USEFUL KNIFE RIGHT THERE ! ! ! !

How could I ever narrow this down to five let alone three ? ? ?
Slyze . . . not top favorites but seriously fills in my Ti addiction JUST FINE !
Chef Gray , Chef Blue and the lovely Swayback.

To RED LEADER :
Vallotton Sub-Hilts(s) are a MUST HAVE ; don't wait another day / order one at least is my advice! What an experience just to handle one and admire it . Dang if it doesn't cut stuff too !
Ground my big one thin (sacrolige but I'm crazy for thin) kept my small one stock but it's a user .

How do I leave out my precious = Drunkin ?
ergos to die for , has that prominent grippy pivot on there just like I would want on most of my knives . (i'll never understand the attraction of the big thick slick bump pivot on the Caly Presige if I use one for another ten years )

Can't leave out the Brouwer ; not my favorite blade shape but I can look at and use that beautiful dark green G10 and Ti handle day in and day out and never want to put it back in the collection tray .
nope , nope , nope , nope I can't begin to choose .
Was carrying my Watu all the previous week ; love, love , love that thin blade / I didn't even have to grind it thin myself ! ! !
I CAN NOT choose . . .

This is such a hard quetion, there are so many I like and so many I still have yet to try. @srivats I also have an eye out for a GB1, tried a GB2 for a few years but think the GB1 will be the real winner for me if I can find one at the right price that is.
There is one on ebay right now!

I'm working off the assumption here that "collaboration" means any Spyderco knife that isn't designed by Sal and/or Eric Glesser.

In that case, my top 3 favourite Spyderco collaborations are:
  • The Yojimbo family of knives (Yojimbo 2, Ronin 2, YoJumbo, MicroJimbo), designed by Michael Janich
    IMG_20251119_165919_433.jpg
  • Schempp Rock, designed by Ed Schempp
    IMG_20251119_165929_646.jpg
  • Introvert, designed by Chris Knutson
    IMG_20251119_165936_876.jpg
Honourable mentions (in no particular order):
  • Street Beat Lightweight, designed by Fred Perrin
  • SpydieChef, designed by Marcin Slysz
  • Kapara, designed by Alistair Phillips
  • Ikuchi, designed by Paul Alexander
  • Canis, designed by Kelly McCann
  • P'kal, designed by Craig Douglas

Good call on the Reinhold Rhino. It didn't make my list but it is truly a very well-executed small folder. I know people rag on it for the oversized pocket clip, but I actually don't mind it. I replaced it with a small deep carry Benchmade clip (it's one of those odd Spydercos that uses the Benchmade hole pattern) but went back to the stock clip because it felt more comfortable when actually using the knife.

It’s the GB1 for me and nothing else is close. It has proven to be a tank of a knife.
After I saw the Gayle Bradley's video explaining his design choices for the original GB folder, I simply had to start looking for one. It took me a good bit of time, but I have one coming in the mail that's in really good condition with the box and I can't wait. I feel the same way about some of the Ed Schempp designs as well, so much thought goes into what these makers do.

I thought the black one looked stunning, the red one is like a supermodel wearing a red dress and you can't help but keep looking.
