Any chance of a surprise caly 3 in spy27 soon? Where was the UKPK manufactured?

UKPK is from Golden, the Caly is Japan but not Seki. Sal posted this reply in the Temperance Salt thread a few weeks back.

This project with the Temp 1 began a long time ago. We have a number of other models already in queue with this maker. It is much easier to make a fixed blade than a high quality folder. Trying to "squeeze" in a Salt version would delay the other projects. Caly 2.5, Caly 3, Caly 3.5, Caly 4 plus a few others that have been already waiting a long time. They are a small group of very skilled men and women.

Wow! That would be great! Cobalt blue G-10 handle! Sweet! That would definitely be a buy for me! The Caly 3 C-113 is the quintessential knife in my opinion. I was lucky to get one right before they went out of production. Quite possibly the world’s most perfect knife!

I agree the caly/calypso design is the quintessential edc folder from spyderco. By design

For me, the Caly hasn't gone anywhere.
And as my signature has always said...
I buy many knives, I enjoy many knives, but I'm always "Going back to Caly", and have one random places around the house, barn, and in the pocket.
I stepped away from the forum here for quite awhile. But the Caly 3 still remains my most carried Spyderco over the past decade or so.
I almost grabbed that UKPK SPY27, just because the price is decent and the ergos are familiar. But I don't carry my slipits that often, even though as in my photo today, I do own and use them.

More so than SPY27 Caly, I'd like to see them in K390.

Hearing Sals news about some more upcoming Caly variants has me excited (and a bit surprised how overlooked that bombshell was...) Unfortunately news from 2023, so must be taking some time to put through the production pipeline...

Sorry, but my Caly project seems to be stalled at the maker. Might have to make a change.

Ahhhh no bueno. Appreciate the update though, Sal, even if not great news. Is it a change to new version specs, the steel/material choice, or an actual change of the maker for this one?
CPM issue intertwined here?

I'd hate to see a change of maker, I know how long that relationship has run, but if they can't do it, they can't do it.

I agree.
I have patience. But if it's beyond just simply a waiting game, then I hope whatever other issues find a resolution as well.

Mr. Glesser, thank you for being transparent with us. I’ve had the “new” Caly 3.0 on my list for some time (bonus if it’s in K390). Having a peak behind the curtain is much appreciated.
