Good all around knife for working around the house & yard

I use a Byrd Cara Cara 2 rescue as my pruning knife, works like a dream.
I look after orphaned and sick native animals, many require fresh native plants daily.
I got the orange model so its easy to find, the 8cr serrations have actually held their edge ok surprisingly, considering im cutting some fairly woody stuff at times.
Anybody looking for a tough cheap garden option, cant go past the Byrd cara cara 2 rescue.

Great, now I want a Shark in Orange as it is just a cool looking blade. Maybe set it up in the vehicle for a rescue cutter. **** you Spyderco Forums!

I often use a Police 4 Lightweight (in plain edge VG-10) paired with a Leatherman Wave+ multitool for working around the house/yard. When I'm at home, I don't have to worry about things like being discreet (which the Police 4 definitely isn't!) & I can use the longest folder I have.

I'll also sometimes use the Waterway (it makes for a good general-purpose utility knife, and is especially great in the kitchen), but prefer the convenience of the Police 4 (the sheath on a fixed blade the size of the Waterway sometimes catches on things)

The Endura is a great knife, but that SS is going to be about the worst possible version for house/yard work. Slick scales & pinned construction do not lend themselves well to a down & dirty working knife, imo. As others have already mentioned, I'd also recommend the Pacific Salt (I like SE for yardwork).. however, if you're set on an Endura, I'd definitely go with the FRN version.. that bi-directional texturing is really going to help out when your knife gets dirty..

This. Agree on all points. Get the FRN handle and a Sharpmaker with the money saved so you can keep the SE sharp.

I like SS handles but for yard work I would agree with everyone above that recommended FRN. Salt versions (have used a serrated Tasman for years) are better then non-Salt.

That being said I have used an old CE Millie for years, an absolute fantastic yard/work knife.
