Mind blown. Looking forward to the continued 15V sprints and Rex121.

Eric brought some heat for shot show! I hope Knifecenter does a longer interview with him as well, those are always so interesting.

Will have to check out the videos when I get home. Rex 121 Sage sounds like fun. Good to see more 15V also.

Eric saying that Magnacut and LC200N are "incredibly similar" in both corrosion resistance and edge retention? Interesting.

this is not meant to be a knock against him in any way, but it seems like he may have misspoken several times in the videos (i seriously don't envy the position he's in, having to talk to all these people all day with cameras in my face and knowing what i say will be analyzed and held onto by people all over the world that see it sounds like a nightmare). i might be wrong, but i don't think he meant that they are incredibly similar in both of these categories, otherwise it wouldn't make much sense for spyderco to bother making both of them in the same models and taking up valuable production resources. if they are that similar, why have the native and native chief each in both steels?

He did mention the difficulty of sourcing LC200N. But he also indicated that they are different flavors, and that someone may prefer one over the other.ladybug93 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 23, 2024 8:56 pmthis is not meant to be a knock against him in any way, but it seems like he may have misspoken several times in the videos (i seriously don't envy the position he's in, having to talk to all these people all day with cameras in my face and knowing what i say will be analyzed and held onto by people all over the world that see it sounds like a nightmare). i might be wrong, but i don't think he meant that they are incredibly similar in both of these categories, otherwise it wouldn't make much sense for spyderco to bother making both of them in the same models and taking up valuable production resources. if they are that similar, why have the native and native chief each in both steels?

The video from BladeHQ showcases the SpyMyto nicely. We ordered some to go to France when they were announced, I was under the impression the blade was hollow ground.
Is it still the case ? Because reveal and website both list it as such, but it really looks like a flat grind in the video.

In the collection : Lots of different steels, in lots of different (and same) Spydercos.

so, he may be referring to edge retention, but he didn't say edge retention. he could've just as easily meant toughness or some other attribute.

Pretty psyched on these coatings, should make for some excellent exclusives.
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.
Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

My first thought was that it was the same PVD from the REC exclusives, but I thought it was strange that Eric wouldn’t have just said that outright.ladybug93 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 23, 2024 10:15 pmi'm guessing it's pvd. that's what it looks like in the video. i'm loving hearing eric mention coated salts too. some of us have been asking for that for a while now.kennethsime wrote: ↑Tue Jan 23, 2024 9:51 pmPretty psyched on these coatings, should make for some excellent exclusives.

Ah, I noticed that too and did a comment about it in a thread I started quite recently (see here viewtopic.php?f=2&t=96011&p=1767210#p1767210)
Just after that I realized that you guys have already a discussion on the topic right here.
