Renewed plea for a Stretch 2 (not XL) in Magnacut

It's now 2026, so I'm renewing my request for a Stretch 2 (my all-time favorite) to be granted a limited SALT run -- or
at least a Magnacut blade sprint? I've bought and then sold a Stretch XL Salt, thinking it might scratch the itch. I own the PM2 salt. However, my favorite overall Spydie is still the Stretch 2 in K390.
The only reason I picked up the PM2 salt, was that I sometimes prefer to carry a stainless blade for extended canoeing/wet-weather trips and it's obviously pretty close to the Stretch 2 in most dimentions. That said, for these trips, I still find myself gravitating more towards my RIT-dyed 1st-gen Pacific Salt (H1), due to it's lighter weight and perhaps nostalgia.
Here's one of my "historial" pleas for reference:

If I'm really honest, probably the K390 Stretch 2.
Yep -- me too. It's the only one of which I have a spare tucked away.
Make it in Magnacut and I'll buy at least 3.
I'd do the same!

So, come on folks -- anyone with me?

I am a huge fan of the Stretch 2, the lockback PM2 if you will. I would love one in lc200n or magnacut. The only hesitation I would have would be with a light weight (with a caveat). I would like to see it with liners, though they could/should be skeletonized liners. I would be happy with either blade profile.
Cheers
Erik

I literally have one of these in my pocket right now.
Great knife. If the HT on the new MM is dialed in, it would be great to see this show up at the big 3 for sure. With how Seki heat treats K390, I would also be curious about how they would do with Magnamax.

Magnacut still very unlikely in a Seki knife, right?
So at the time being I guess it would have to be LC200N or H2 for a Stretch 2 Salt.

Yeah, honestly I need to buy another K390 S2. It's absolutely my favorite model, but I don't carry my Micarta example often enough since I'm not 100% happy with the scales. I would love OD green
I don't think they would do a one-off Magnacut model unless there was a push to bring Magnacut to the whole Seki line, but I could be wrong.

Hmm-- forgot that [Seki City + MC] didn't compute. Dang. Perhaps that's why we've never seen this yet.
I'd snap up a LC200N (preferred) or H2 one, as well. Honestly, my SPY27 Stretch 2 XL was quite nice, but I prefer ~3.5" blades. I'd be really swell if the regular Stretch 2 could be had in SPY27 or the other 'top stainless wonder-steels.'

That's unfortunate. I was thinking last night I wish I could get an Endura and Delica in Magnacut.

..Stretch 2, the lockback PM2 if you will..
In a way it is, and I happen to prefer a backlock over a comp.lock.
But I always like to point out the additional more or less subtle differences between Stretch 2 and PM2, which for me personally are all pros on side of the Stretch:
- First and foremost: Thinner blade stock on the Stretch
- I prefer the FRN- over the G10 - handle, also because of the imo better ergos (more contouring)
- The Stretch offers more actual grip area behind the choil on an actually a tad shorter handle
- The Stretch - edge has a long, completely straight section before it raises to the tip, while the PM2 edge has more of an continuous curve: I personally prefer the cutting characteristics of the former, it offers a bit of "wharnie qualities" by imo transferring force better and being less likely to slide off materials. Subtle, but to me noticeable.
That said: I don´t have a Stretch 2 anymore, for the sole reason that I like the disco´ed Stretch "1" even more (and own three of them)

The stretch 2 has a slightly more generous finger choil which is GREATLY needed for those with bigger hands. It also has rounded off scales which bumps up the ergos considerably. And lastly the closed bias on the lockback mixed with thinner blade make it vastly superior imo for everyday carry. I hate to say it because I own a slough of pm2s I love dearly.
Agreed 100% on wanting it to be with liners though.
Day 100 of asking for a magnacut/magnamax stretch 2.

If geting a Stretch 2 in Magnacut is not going to happed, I'd still appreciate one in SPY27. The XL version has it....be really nice to see even SPY27 come down to the standard sized one. Please do keep the kiners, though. I too need to put back another K390 one -- just in case.

Agreed, keep the liners. Would love SPY27 or other stainless. Satin, not coated.

I would love a standard Stretch 2 in Magnacut or SPY27 (straight spine version preferred). The XL is neat, but too long to be legal where I am.

It's not an impossible or unreasonable request. For either Magnacut or MagnaMax or even SPY27.
I'll watch the thread.
Talkin' Story;
The Stretch is a very nice all around design. It was originally created when many of the ordinances in the US moved from a 4.0" blade length limit to a 3.5" blade length limit. So we had to create a number of designs to meet the need of those that want to carry as large a blade as is legal to carry. The Stretch 2 was one of those models. The Harrier 2, the Endela, etc. The XL was created because there seemed to be a number of knife users that just wanted a 4.0" blade. It seemed to me the XL could serve that demand. Then the Police 4 came out with an even longer blade, which was also well received. We don't know where the future will go. It mostly depends on where you want to go?
I expect that in time, our Seki maker will be using MagnaCut and MagnaMax. They've done a great job with the SPY27 models.

At risk of sounding like a broken “what about [insert knife name here] in serrated H2?” record… what about a Stretch 2 Salt in SE H2? Salts with liners and teeth are fantastic. My only qualm with the Caribbean SE was I get jolted a lot at work and it kept opening in my pocket. A back lock Stretch 2 on the other hand… Just sayin

Fully agreed. And this despite I also really like the PM2, but in my case it actually was the Stretch 1 that made me realize quite a while ago: Since this (a Stretch) exists I actually just almost never was inclined to carry my PM2 instead...

Completely understandable and a good move, so more folks can legally carry a Stretch!
That said:
I can recall the G10 Stretch 2: And THAT one actually has a longer blade and longer cutting edge than the FRN Stretch 2. By about 4mm / 0.16".
Not a world, but noticeable, and yes, this does lengthen the blade to OVER the limit with its 3.57" (FRN Stretch 2: 3.43").
I personally would like to see a variant of the FRN Stretch with that longer blade... or, since it then would exceed the legal 3.5" anyway, even as long as the handle space allows (I am sure it could go up to 3.6" or so).

I really like the Stretch for all the reasons you mention, and the most important is Handle Room! I don't like the PM2 line specifically because they are too small for my hand.

A Magnacut full salt model would be to my liking, and I'd take LC200N as a second choice; black or coyote handle, black blade.

I'd take LC200N too -- it would be an instant buy for me and would complement my K390 model nicely. LC200N is still an incredibly stain resistant steel.
