Boltaron retention adjustment
Boltaron retention adjustment
Has anybody adjusted (increased) the retention of their boltaron sheaths? I was considering adding electric tape to the blade end of the handle to increase the diameter & theoretically the tension as well. This seems like the only option aside from trying to heat the material and compressing it. Am I missing something? Has there been any discussion as to why an adjustable retention system has not been put into place? ie kydex firearm holsters
Re: Boltaron retention adjustment
I have not had to adjust any of mine as of yet, but if I do I will simply just heat up the tabbed area and push it inward and hold it till it cools.
I have heated up a G-clip on one of mine and rebent it to fit a 1.75" belt. I had to heat the G-clip up several times to achieve the proper fit for my bigger duty belt.
The one thing I will say about the Boltaron is that it's amazing just how Tuff the stuff is. So basically you would really have to basically catch the Boltaron on fire before you approach messing it up lol.
As you warm it up just watch the surface texture and not blister it. Heat the Boltaron slowly so you don't blister it. Heat a little and then try adjusting by bending. Least this would be how I would go at it.
