We regret to inform you that Mr. Bob Taylor passed away on 27 August 2025.
Bob was the founder of REKAT cutlery, an experienced Martial Artist and he served our country during the Viet Nam war. He created some very unique knife designs during his career, he invented the "Rolling Lock", and he was a friend of mine for 20+ years. We'll miss him.

Condolences for the loss.
How hard would it be to make a knife with the rolling lock? I believe Spyderco sends some of the proceeds to the family. Might be more trouble than it's worth, but it seems like a fitting way to honor a knife maker.

My sincere compassion to the family and to you, sal, and all who knew him.
Bob was a great man and will be missed.
He was an inspiration and mentor to many.
He along with you, the late Bob Lum, and Lynn Thompson helped give me a great appreciation for tanto blades, as well as quality steel.

Sorry to hear that.
Seems like we are losing a lot of great people in the knife community lately. Not sure if it is really anything different than usual or if I am just more familiar with the people around the community than I used to be. Whenever I hear of one of the old knife makers, sharpeners, or industry experts passing it makes me want to learn all I can and do my best to support the knife tradition.
RIP Bob Taylor.
Stay sharp everyone.

That's a shame. I loved many of his designs.

My condolences.
I hadn’t realised the Spyderco Warrior / Rekat Hobbit relationship.

Bob was truly one of a kind. The more you learned about him, the more you respected him. As a warrior and patriot, he had few equals. I will miss him.
Rest in peace, brother.
Stay safe,
Mike
