For the heck of it.

If you had a budget of £250/ $300 and you had decided to buy a knife that you didn't need, probably wouldn't use, and had no practical purpose in your daily knife rotation, yet you liked it anyway and wanted to buy it for the heck of it, what would you choose?

My top two, I just love the look of these:

I'd probably choose the Delica Sprint in Cruwear/CF. Or maybe the damascus/titanium version of the Delica.

I definitely don't need either of them, would likely never use them anyway... and I'm not even a great fan of the Delica! Go figure!

Stretch XL Cruwear G10. Or the Nishijin version.

I would say S90V&Fluted CF Native 5 but who would not use this one ?
:respect In the collection :respect : Lots of different steels, in lots of different (and same) Spydercos.

Techno 3.

It looks good, but I haven't gotten one because I am hesitant to get a Spyderco with flipper only opening and a vestigial Spydiehole.

Stretch 2 XL Cruwear

Or

Military 15v

I would just have very limited use for a 4” knife but would love to try one of them.

For me, that would probably be the Canis. It is an interesting design, and I am a fan of Wharncliffe and Sheepsfoot style blades. As a lefty though, the right handed biased compression lock would make it an unlikely carry knife for me, and it would likely sit in the drawer alongside my Ouroboros.

The Civilian.... I wanted one since I first saw it in the 90s and bought my first Harpy.

I really have no use for it, but always liked it.

call me a party pooper but I don't buy knives I don't plan to use.

if I were going to buy a $300 or less knife that wouldn't likely see much use, I'd probably get a crucarta military or manix xl. or the s90v / cf run of the millie 2.

nothing wrong with those knives, I simply prefer dlc s30v or salt versions.

I am curious about why a SE Pacific and Yojumbo made your list though. They're both really nice EDC knives in my eyes. I spent years with each.

Hah same for me - I'd find a use for it though.

The last knife I bought and received that fits the bill was not a Spyderco, it was the ZT 0562cf. It is a very nice flipper but the blade is a bit thick for what I need most of the time.

Easy. Spydiechef. I would be buying it as a less expensive Sebenza and constantly kicking myself for not saving a little longer and getting the one I really want.

Both knives the OP listed are excellent everyday users, why would you not use them?

That Pacific Salt is a $135 knife, if there was ever a knife to use and treat like a rented mule, it’s this one! Yeah I could probably think of a knife or two to put in the back of my safe, but it’s neither of these two…..

I'm not a "collector" so I don't buy knives that I have no intention of using. However, there are a couple that sort of meet your description.

When the Reate EXO came out, I bought one because I thought a gravity knife would be cool. It IS cool, but I quickly decided that gravity knives aren't my cuppa. I sold it. It's gone. I'll not buy another.

The other knife is a Microtech Ultra with their fancy-pants ZBP mechanism. With this one, I learned that you can't discreetly open the knife, and Spyderco's FFG is far better. The OTF is great if you want to fidget and make a spectacle of yourself. Once in a while I still the Microtech in my pocked if I'm pretty sure I won't need it.
