I wish I was able to get the se. I’m curious what the feedback is like with that one.

Honestly I much prefer plain edges but we were limited to 1 of each edge type per household and free shipping required spending $150... lol I'm ok with it, it's the first Mule offered with the SE, I figured I couldn't go wrong.

I can't imagine the hectic shipping dock there at Spyderco now lol. Those guys are being swamped with all these orders.
Heck I just hope I get at least one of them. My experience was as I feared with me not using PayPal. Never had good experience with PayPal lol.

Got 1 of each! I'm glad they limited sales to 1 of each type. Demand is there regardless - no need to enable the flippers.
The PE is going on immediate Kitchen duty. The SE will be the backpacking/outdoor/work knife for a while.
I think the Kitchen knife will be my motivation to finally make my own Brazilian Cherry scales for it. I've had the wood looking for a home for too long!
I was using my SE K390 Delica this week thinking how great K390 is. If MM is truly a stainless K390 as reported, then this may be the SS killer that cannibalizes a lot of market from M390/S90V/S110V and other high end SS's. Especially because I guess its SE friendly! I could use more SE Stainless in my life.

Wow, woke up a little later, went to work and by the time I logged in, SOLD OUT.

Yeah I didn't have any trouble getting my PE, and I'm sure that it will perform as advertised. It'll probably go on kitchen duty as a petty/utility just like I abused the MC version.

Ordered, and sold out. I wonder if there will be a second run, or if instead we’ll just start seeing MagnaMax production models.

I got a plain edge. I didn't get both so I can honestly use the heck out of it at work then resharpen with my Apex sharpener with diamonds.
Reprofiling and sharpening 15v to 17° took 2 hours and I'm excited to be able to compare their sharpenability and edge retention. A bit of that time may have been me being ocd. We had two months of 90 to 104° heat while it was on my hip so 15v did show signs of rust under the scales. Oiled steel wool was able to remove it quickly. I made sure to reapply oil before reattaching the scales.

I also have a PE on the way. Much excite. I'm especially interested in comparing it to the K294 Mule, which has been a venerable fixed blade in my collection with tons of use. Who will win?! I may even carry them together for some back-to-back cuts and testing... this is going to be fun.

I totally spaced out that today was Magnamax mule day, but thankfully I'd set a reminder on my phone so I was able to pull off the freeway and place an order at exactly 9:06 MDT. I would have ordered one of each edge type, but interestedly, the spyder edge model was already sold out. I most wanted the plain edge version so I wasn't too bummed out, except that I had to pay for shipping. I probably should have just thrown another K394 mule in the cart now that they're back in stock to get over the free shipping threshold, but I didn't think of it at the time. I'd be interested to know if the spyder edge sold out first because there was a greater demand for them or if Spyderco simply didn't make as many as they did they plain edge version.

SE: 6 min. SO PE: 13 min.

I bet the Spyderco shipping dock is still slammed from the frenzy yesterday on the two MagnaMax Mules we all tried to get.
Shipping and loading docks can get pretty busy anyway, let alone what we all unleashed on them yesterday lol...

K390 is one of my favorite knife steels, I was really excited when Larrin announced MagnaMax. I make knives, mostly kitchen knives and I have been making MagnaCut knives since the first commercial heat of the steel. I've got some of his ProCut to make some as well now that the summer temperatures have broken. I have a preference for non stainless mainly because of the ability to handle lower apex angels and support a sharper edge. MagnaCut and now MagnaMax are game changing steels, the benefits I like about non stainless steels with the added benefit of being stainless.
Once a commercial heat of MagnaMax is available I will be getting some to make some knives out of, not sure if I will need the added wear resistance in a kitchen knife as there really isn't a need for it in a kitchen environment but I do make other knives that would certainly benefit from it.

I've not been buying mules very long but I have seen where they initially put half the inventory up for sale and then weeks/months later release the rest, I think this is standard for them but I'm not positive.
I certainly saw it with the K294 and T15 Mules.

They should be very similar in performance if everything I've read about makers testing MagnaMax so far. They are impressed with it.
K294, CPM-10V and K390 are some of my favorite steels, anything in this class should be absolutely outstanding.

I have a K294 Mule I’ll be comparing the PE MagnaMax to. And I have a K390 LeafJumper SE I’ll be comparing to the SE Mule.
Yeah. The SEs aren’t the same size, blade shape, or anything else. But it’s what I have.

The K294 should compare well with it, I have 2 K294 Mules, 2 T15 Mules that all should compare well as they are in the same league as far as wear resistance as K390. I'm curious as to how MagnaCut compares, I have a couple of hunting knives I'm working on in MagnaCut and I've made quite a few kitchen knives from very hard MagnaCut (64HRC) and I really like the steel.

My MagnaMax mules were supposed to be delivered yesterday but it appears they are... Delayed, I hope. The status seems to indicate they are "on the way" but appear to be in the next town over since yesterday at 11am. Doesn't say they arrived there though which is odd...
I hope FedEx didn't loose them.

So I've been working from home since April 11'th due to an office remodel, today is my first day back in the office and my mules were delivered today lol, of course. I have to be patient for the rest of the day.
