Gentleman's Ladybug/Manbug

#1

Post by 8th_Note »

I wanted to see if there would be any interest in a slightly upscale version of the Ladybug and Manbug. Not necessarily an ultra high end version, but something that is a small step above FRN handles. I was thinking, for example, a version with G10 scales and full liners with a stainless backspacer. Something that would look a little more at home in an office environment.

I think VG-10 would still be a fine blade steel for the base model of the Ladybug Business Class or the Manbug Business Class. And also offer an upgraded version with SPY27 blade steel. (I'm open to better suggestions for names than "Business Class")

There actually is somewhat of a precedent for this model. I recently bought a NOS Byrd Starling 2 in BD1 steel with G10 and full liners. It got me thinking that I would love to see a Spyderco version with Seki fit and finish and screw pivot (instead on pinned). While I love the look of the Starling 2, the gritty action, gaps, and non-adjustable pivot make me yearn for Ladybug or Manbug quality.

Let me know if anyone else feels like this would be a good idea for a future Seki run.

Here's a couple pics of the Starling 2

Kind of like this?

As much as I like the Manbug (I have several) I regret not picking up one of these when they were discontinued

i would love to see a ladybug hawkbill salt with lc200n and titanium. a manbug wharncliffe in that combo would also be excellent.

I had the g10 Jester, and it was lovely! However, I found out I much preferred these little knives to be lightweight as well as small. YMMV

@TkoK83Spy @Sharp Guy

I'm aware of the discontinued bolstered Manbug and the Pakkawood exclusive Ladybug. They are very nice indeed. I'd like to see the bolstered Manbug return, along with a solid G10 scales option.

The Gen 1 Ladybug was released in Carbon Fibre. I'd like a polished Micarta.
