I’m in!
Re: Lava new sprint run?
I'll take at least one.
Re: Lava new sprint run?
I feel like I remember seeing the last blue sprint run in stock for years after production. Longer than any other I can remember, actually.
For me personally, this one would be a long way down the list of knives I'd like to a sprint run of. It's a tough sell in my opinion.

I propose list of people interested. Copy and post.
1. MichalO
2. Infinite Zero
3. w3tnz
4.TomH
5.
I would like to see it in green or brown, polished linen micarta.
Blue G10 is probably not that popular choice.

Re: Lava new sprint run?
There's so many Spyderco models that I have to look up models all the time to refresh my memory.
This is one such knife.
And oh my, did the internet deliver on my look-up. This seems to be a very polarizing design.
The handle design is intriguing, but I'm not sure I'm down with a blade that short, that's all belly. Makes the revised/shortened Urban blade come across as a cutting monster. If it came in a wharnie config I might not be able to resist though.
..Actually.. come to think about it, a stainless steel (pinned please), wharncliffe Lava would have been kind of cool.
After getting my first stainless steel folding knife a while back (a Harpy), I ended up being much more enthusiastic about the stainless knife concept than I had expected. And so I started looking for other models that had a more versatile blade shape for EDC, as well as a more locked in handle shape to mitigate the slick nature of SS.
After a bit of research and looking around, I didn't find anything that got my heart pumping, so the idea lost momentum.
A wharncliffe Lava however, could very well be such a knife.

Re: Lava new sprint run?
I propose K390 or PD#1 with the appropriate color g10 scales.
Re: Lava new sprint run?
It's design from Hawaii. I would go with some more rust resistant steel and micarta or plain SS version to keep it slim in pocket.

Re: Lava new sprint run?
It's funny, but I think I've proposed a wharncliffe version a couple times over the years. It makes sense with a knife that's not really going to be used for cutting on flat surfaces. I've always seen it as more of a package opener type knife.aicolainen wrote: ↑Tue Aug 05, 2025 11:21 amThere's so many Spyderco models that I have to look up models all the time to refresh my memory.

Actually, after looking at the Manbug Leaf, I bet that shape would work very well in a Lava.

Umm no idea what the Lava knife is. I’ll look it up but maybe someone should submit a picture just to help.

Re: Lava new sprint run?
I lost my blue g10 years ago, but it’s a fun knife and I’d love any flavor of sprint!
Re: Lava new sprint run?
Oh wow I like a lot. Yes please. In Super Blue steel please.

Re: Lava new sprint run?
I would prefer the original blade shape and not a wharncliffe.

Re: Lava new sprint run?
I’m interested in either blade shape, but not if it’s stainless scales.

Re: Lava new sprint run?
I have both and carry the blue one regularly at the office, they’re basically akin to a Dragonfly in size. I’d post pics if Imgur would properly provide the links… A new sprint run would look identical to the blue one but with a different color scale and blade steel (?). It wouldn’t be a true “sprint” if the blade was switched to a Wharncliffe, so I highly doubt Spyderco would consider that unless the designer Chad Los Banos really pushed for it. Cheers, Radioactive

Re: Lava new sprint run?
I think if Balance got sprint in Spy27, there is room for Lava. I don't care much about steel, but maybe magnacut and yellow polished linen micarta?
