What are your top 5 Spydercos right now?

Post an image of your current five favorite Spydercos, and if you want write a little blurb about why you enjoy those designs so much.

I'll start :bug-red

Image

In order of appearance...

1. The Aqua Salt has to be one of the most versatile small fixed blades ever made. Lightweight, tough, secure grip in all conditions, rust proof and big enough for any outdoors task short of machete use. I hadn't carried mine in a while, but I took it backpacking this spring and was reminded of how great it is. I used the cruwear Temperance in the same location on another trip and put it to the same uses. The cruwear blade came away with minor dings and rolls, and orange specks across the entire blade simply from rain. The H1 Aqua Salt showed no rolling, chipping or corrosion at all. It's toughness is up there with its corrosion resistance. This one has been batoning logs up to 8" and prying chunks off fatwood stumps since the 2000's with no complaints.

2. The Police is my favorite folder design, and this is my favorite version. The G10 aftermarket scales add a little width to the handle, making it more palm filling. The PD1 blade with DLC coating has held up well in all respects - good edge holding, sharpenability, toughness and corrosion resistance. It cuts and carries extremely well, with a handle that manages to be slim and ergonomic at the same time. Fingers crossed we get a salt!

3. The Military 2 Salt is my favorite folder at the moment. While I prefer the design of the Police, to me there's no better material selection than what this folder offers. Magnacut is the best rust proof steel I've tried so far in terms of edge holding. I love the textured G10. The Military 2 is lightweight, easy to carry, has rock solid lock-up and very smooth action. Really excited to pick up more magnacut & G10 salts once they expand the line.

4. C95 Manix. While the Military Salt gets the nod for versatility in all conditions, and the Police is the best overall design to me, the C95 Manix is a heavy duty work horse with the most ergonomic handle in Spydercos folding line-up in my opinion. There are many different aspects of the handle I love for more rugged jobs - the secure guards on both ends, the placement of the finger grooves, the mellow thumb ramp, and the sheer thickness of the handle. Not the thinnest in the pocket or the lightest - but the go to choice for when I expect tough cutting jobs and plan to tackle them with a folder.

5. The Street Beat is my favorite EDC sized fixed blade. It's very light and compact but doesn't feel undersized for most utility and outdoors tasks. Whether it's slicing up a cardboard box, cutting paracord, carving feather sticks, slicing steaks or cleaning fish, the Street Beat can handle it all with ease. I've been carrying either the lightweight or the micarta version for EDC and outdoors adventures since the 2000's, and they've never let me down. A true gem in Spydercos line-up many folks overlook simply for not being a folder.

Honorable mentions....

Temperance sprint & Manix XL.

In the summer I go for my smaller ones

- Native (MC, Spy27, Rex45): my most used. LC200N SE dedicated to outdoors. S90V CF for urban carry.
(I guess I could stop here, lol.)

- Chap (maple and raffir), urban rfp carry, the SE model lives in a small maxpedition micro in my backpack.

- Sage 1 and Para 3 in Maxamet I just enjoy these so much with custom wood panels, nice change from the plastic of the Natives

5. D'Fly Salt SE, just something to grab for a quick garden tour/harvest, clipped to my bathers

In the cold season my preferences shift to the OG Millie in S90V/S110V, the Native Chief in S90V/Rex45 and the Cruwear G10 Stretch 2 XL and the titanium models.

My plan is to get rid of as many knives as possible within 30 days selling off around $8k plus, only keeping the following and the best of the best from all manufacturers for self defense.

Anything in 15V. I have them all except for the smallest, and some I have duplicates.

Spyderco Native Chief in various steels. Excellent EDC knife. Looking forward to my Magnacut models which should ship this week.

Spyderco Sustain by Stuart Ackerman in 20CV. I owned 3 of these and gifted one to my nephew. The product description lured me in. They said it was used in the field for hunting wild boar.

Spyderco Province by Ankerson / Sanders in CPM 4V. Bowie that is almost a duplicate of my old Randal Model 14 in a much better steel. The Model 14 was my first serious knife and I love the pattern/style of it.

Spyderco Darn Dao. Should be a goto for home defense.

Ayoob
Autonomy 1

Honorable mention Caribbean, but it got replaced by the Bodacious and Autonomy 2 since they're fairly similar.

1/ K390 Delica. My cardboard workhorse. I’ve patinad it and I use it with a lanyard and no clip and that makes it the most ergonomic knife I have. I’d love to swap this out with a MagnaMax version (wink wink).

2/ SE Stretch 2XL,VG-10. This is my personal steak knife, I use it in the kitchen daily for cutting up food. Been thinking about trying a SE Magnacut native chief instead but we’ll see

3/ Manbug leaf SE. this is my keychain knife. Always with my and cuts anything I need on the go.

4/ Para 3 LW salt, edc knife 1 when I carry on me. Love the magnacut and love the action.

5/ SE Chaparral LW, edc knife 2 when I carry on me. So slicey and the best serrations made.

Runners up: M390 delica as edc knife 3, and Wharnie VG-10 dragonfly as a box opener when I work concessions at events for my kid, since that knife is non offensive in nearly all settings.

When I do use a clip, I buy from LynchNW.

These are the folders I usually reach for when there's work to do or when I'm in a rush to get out the door: Endela, Manix 2 LW, Yojimbo 2, Pacific Salt 2, Spydiechef
five favorites folder 2025.jpg
The Native 5 LW and Delica 4 are among my favorites for pocket carry, but I now find myself favoring models with more cutting edge if carry comfort is not an issue.

These are my favorite fixed blades from Spyderco, as their handles are most comfortable for me during extended use: Bill Moran, Jumpmaster 2, Temperance, Mule Team, Enuff sheepsfoot
five favorites fixie 2025.jpg
Special mention goes to the Spyderco Paring Knife, which probably sees more use than all of the above knives combined :smlling-eyes

1. PM2 REX76 | perfect ergonomics with amazing steel
2. Para 3 15V | easy to carry
3. Manix 2 CruWear | workhorse
4. Military 2 15V | cardboard destroyer
5. Native 5 Magnacut | when in need

Bodacious SPY27 deserves an honorable mention. It’s not pretty, but can replace a fixed blade in functionality.

1 - My summertime work knife, in my pocket most anytime I’m wearing a belt (could be subbed out by the SE version if I’ve got a fixed blade too.)

2 - This is for off days.

3 - This goes with me on any trips to the “yard.” (Mowing, dog walks in the woods, etc) IWB in gym shorts and ISP otherwise.

4 - 1st Alternate work knife.

5 - 1st Alternate off days knife.

I have gone down in size preference in these last years. Mine are:

1] Delica
2] Dragonfly
3] UKPK
4] Endura
5] Manix 2 Backlock G10

I don't even take my others out of the cabinet any longer.

I guess the small pile of Sages and Enduras on my dresser really says where I am right now lol.

But if I had to pick five models, not variations of those two...

PM2
GB2
Endura
Sage
Ladybug

Sage was my first love. It's such a great EDC, not big, not small, robust but slicey, classy but loves to get dirty. It should have been my one and done, economically speaking :p

PM2 eventually won over the Manix2 with the pointier blade and more accommodating handle design.

GB2 is possibly the perfect knife.

Endura handle requires a very specific grip that i got used to over time. I really appreciate the slimness and lightness. Though I sometimes wish it was a PM2 Backlock Skinny!

Ladybug is a great secondary carry. While a little harder to manipulate than the Manbug, it's just that much smaller and pointier to have as a secondary.

That’s crazy. Our knife preferences and uses must be pretty similar because my current list would match yours almost exactly but substitute a REX45 Manix for the Cruwear version and I carry S90v for my Native 5.

Lately, these are the ones always out; not stashed away; always ready to grab.
  • Military - Any hike and always around the camp. Works great in back pocket. Once the right Bodacious comes out, there will be competition.
  • PM2 - Need I say more. If it is not on me, it is always a backup in the backpack or car. Manix 2 sneaks in now and then...
  • Sage 5 - Currently the most carried. Not too big or small. Easy to take anywhere. Taiwan fit and finish. Perhaps I wish it was G10 instead? Can't wait to try Sage 6 one of these days.
  • Native 5 - Similar to the Sage in that it is easy to take anywhere, but more when outdoors, sports, or anything active. REX 45 is getting a little rusty. Carried IWB more than any other.
  • UKPK - Unobtrusive. In office or most formal-ish events. Easy to slip into a shoe if I 'forget' to leave it behind and there is a pat down event.

1, Microjimbo 15V 😈 Great little wharncliffe, amazing action and execution out of Golden, suprisingly good ergos for my big hands in many grips, 15V from BBB is no brainer. I love K390 and this seems like a nice upgrade

2, 3, Native Salt serrated LC200N in dark green. More than two years my #1🥰 Light, compact, easy to keep sharp, no worry about sweat, push away few great knives.

2, 3, Native Salt Magnacut. I get it after long hunt two months ago and I love the steel. Easy to sharpen, good edge holding, corrosion free, very slicy grind. For some reason much smoother action than LC200N 🤔 Still hard to decide wich one I like more.

4, Delica PD#1 Love the color combo, ergos, thin super slicy blade, steel is also very nice suprice for me. Its a shame that Natives have so much better lock. Delica feels a little flimsy next to it.

5, Para 3 LW. Great steel, light, compact, fidget lock. For some reason after few days/ weeks it develops blade play😰 I diassemble, clean, lube, locktite, put it back to action. And the play keeps turning back🫣 I had Rex45 in the past and Magnacut lately. Both the same story. And dont get me started on centering😝 Otherwise great EDC

1. Manbug Wharnie - Been on me every single day for around the past 3-4 years now. It's my at home knife, everyday I change out of my work clothes into my sweats or athletic shorts it goes right in the pocket. I've used it for so many things I can't even count. It's scratched up, not centered, but still works like a charm. I love that little knife!

2. Manix 2 (Rex45 with grooved micarta) - Been my staple knife for around 6 years now. Absolutely my favorite user knife when I was more of a user than a desk jockey. Great steel, ergos, blade shape and also looks great with the worn in micarta.

3. Sage 5 LW (Spy27) My favorite to me, mid/small knife. Love the color, wire clip, ergos, easy to work with steel. I'm not one to talk about action (it drives me crazy) but I have to admit, this knife's action is some of the best I've ever handled.

4. Delica (OD green / Cruwear exclusive) Can't be a Spyderco fan and NOT have a Delica! Absolutely love the colorway of this knife. Thin blade stock (sharpened to 13dps makes it an absolute laser) small, comfortable in pocket and in use.

5. Military (RIL Ti/S90V exclusive) The Cadillac of the Military model in my eyes. When you need that extra blade length in a folder, it's tough to pass on the Military. Luxury materials, solid in hand, you KNOW you're holding a real knife when this is in hand.
