Is Maxamet going away? I know REX121 will be gone soon, but with Crucible selling all it's powdered steel technology and IP, will Maxamet be gone soon?

Maxamet is a Carpenter steel, not Crucible. My understanding is that it should not be lost as a result of the Crucible bankruptcy.

Maxamet is made by Carpenter Technologies. But regardless of who makes it, it would certainly depend on whether it’s profitable for the company to keep making it. Steel used for knives is a very small part of the big picture for companies making steel.
Here’s info on Maxamet from the Carpenter website:

I think I’ve read somewhere on the Forum that Carpenter wasn’t really interested in making steel for knives. Sal has said he helped Carpenter develop BD1 to get them in the business.

Good to know. Maxamet and REX121 are the only knives I have that can cut glass. Ahem. Not that I cut much glass.
Sal, you are a very kind and generous soul.
