I have been working to get this stupid Federal "switchblade" law removed it's been misused for 70+ years and it's time to get rid of it, many states have made "auto knives" legal but as long as it's still on the Federal books as a law, it gives law enforcment the chance to take them and maybe arrest you for carrying one, also if you use the US mail or many other shipping options for sending the knife in for repair, you could find the post office and the US Coustoms Dept.keeping the knife.

Strange no one has a comment about this important item, should we just forget this stupid federal switchblade law and just let it go? Unless we stand up to these poorly thought out Federal laws many will keep losing their knives and some will be arrested.

You should browse through the off topic section and follow anything that @critter posts. All of us ranting in a thread isn't going to make much difference but supporting what he's doing will.

Maybe with Trump in there now there is a chance for common sense to become common again.

Until then, the unwashed masses don't get it that crime is already illegal and only decent people are affected by these laws.

I am for getting rid of the Federal Switchblade Act. Automatic knives are incredible, and they should be what we are EDCing instead of all these workarounds like opening devices and flippers. And Balisong/Butterfly knives are one of the handiest, easiest one-hand opening and closing, as well as the strongest lock on a folding knife, probably close to a fixed blade if such a thing is possible. Or as close to a fixed blade as a folding knife can get.

I had a conversation with a member of parliament in Europe. She said that a knife with a button is a terrible weapon and should definitely be banned. Then I suggested that all NATO soldiers be armed with knives with buttons. Or even better, each knife should have two buttons. Then we would definitely become completely invincible...

There was a pause. After that, the woman's confidence visibly diminished. :winking-tongue
