NKD Delica 4 Sprint Run Burgundy PD1

My first Spyderco, and I have to say it is probably my favorite knife and the best form factor for edc that I could imagine. Perfect for everything I could ever use it for. I love the grip, the hand feel the weight and the colors. I have XL glove size hands and this is just a great size. I’m thinking I might need to get a reflective orange lanyard made, because with the small size and the dark colors I could see myself needing help if I drop it in the wrong place.
I’m gonna have this for a long time and take great care of it. Any recommendations for a nice entry level sharpening set, diamond plate, stones or something else? I have been using the pull through type sharpeners, but now that I have a modest collection I feel like I should be treating them better.
One pic of the small collection.

Hi Backlock,.
Welcome to our forum. Glad you like the model. For Sharpeners, I always recommend the Spyderco Sharpmaker. Good for sharpening and good for learning. I also always recommend a magnifying loupe of 10X - 12X.

Welcome! I really like your Username btw. since the backlock is still my favorite locktype...
- I agree with everything you say about the Delica!
Imo one of Spydercos most refined models, makes really use of all the space on the handle and so offers enough grip area also for XL hands, has a ricasso to choke up on, reasonable (not too thick) blade stock, that a bit reinforced tip and is really light for the sturdy built with liners! Good choice!
- Sharpening set:
Tbh all pull-trough sharpeners I know of are really bad and not good for the blade...but I can highly recommend the Spyderco Sharpmaker! [EDIT] (Sal beat me to it...

)
Generally, but also if you plan on getting serrated Spydies (for me personally even better than their plain edge versions in pretty much any task)

I recently got the Endela in PD#1 and I love it. It's an incredible steel and it takes a screaming edge very easily.
No matter what type of sharpeners you get (ditch that pull thru), I would recommend getting a paddle style leather strop, in addition to the sharpener, along with a 1 micron diamond paste. It's great for touch ups in between sharpenings. And it will get that edge so very sharp

Ok everyone, I’m convinced I need to get a sharpmaker. Watched the video and it seems like a simple and fast way to sharpen, plus I can use it on my kitchen knives.

Welcome to the forum, nice choice of knife!
I'd recommend the CBN triangles to use with the Sharpmaker.

Welcome to the forum. The Delica, in any iteration, is my favorite knife. Many people on this forum are also Delica lovers. That is a very nice knife that you have.

I've been maintaining my PD1 Police with the spyderco medium benchstone. It works very well with the steel.

Great looking Delica. I have bin thinking about the Pd-1 Stretch myself.
About Sharpeners. The sharpmaker is great at keeping your knives sharp i would highly recommend buying it.
BUT honestly when your knife is really dull or has some kind of edge damage or you want to reprofile an edge.
The Sharpmaker even with the cbn or diamond rods is far from the thing you want because when your finally finished even Eric will have probably retired…
Personally i use the worksharp precision adjust elite for that kind of Sharpening works.
Its diamond stones make short work of anything you can ever want to do sharpening wise while not costing an arm and a leg like something like a wicked edge.
So first i would say go for the Spyderco sharpmaker then invest in the worksharp and a good strop and your set for life!

One week in with the knife and I love it. Takes up no space, sometimes I forget it’s even there. Easy to pull out and open when I need it and amazing ergonomics. Can’t believe I waited so long to get a Spyderco. This knife just makes itself so easy to be an edc. None of my other knives come close to the ease of edc. Fan for life. Honestly I don’t need another pocketknife after this. Should I lose or over abuse this I will be picking up another Delica without hesitation. This is for me the Platonic ideal of a pocketknife.

Yeah, that's just what the Delica is.
Such a great no nonsense cutting tool, doesn't get any better in that particular size range for me.
I just can reiterate:
Since you obviously like the model, you might want to consider a Salt 2...exact same handle shape, but a tad thicker (more handfilling), even lighter (linerless), larger opening hole, blade a bit longer and tip a bit more robust (easy mod to make it pointier though if one prefers that) ..
...and of course almost completely rust proof...
I'd go SE, and you can choose between ffg (what I'd recommend) LC200N or sabre hollow grind H2....
