Contrary to much of the popular opinion, I'm not a huge fan of the Smock mostly due to the ergos not being my favorite. I also generally don't like coated blades as much.

But despite saying either of those things... This does look pretty serious all blacked out, pretty mean

There isn’t much info yet about the texture of the scales . If I was to buy another Smock this screams double black linen Micarta for me . Smock is either like or dislike from since release . I have a weakness for the blade type and button release. Dan

I like the action on it, cool design. But just not close to my take on grip ergos, no biggie. Double black linen Micarta does sound good. I have red linen on my standard pre-cqi model.

Ah ok thanks for the detail. Well, it's not for me, aluminum, especially smooth, is not my go-to. Hopefully others enjoy.

which sites/companies are going to be selling them? Any idea on when preorders start?

This does indeed have black aluminum scales and the amazing TiCN blade. MSRP 307 and MAP of 277.50. Some dealers already have it listed on their websites but not available to order like Indianaknives.com and Redlineblades.com!

What I'm most curious about is the clip. The GPK Stormtrooper had a matte clip, whereas iirc all other TiCN Taichung models had a glossy clip. This one looks glossy, which I much prefer.

TiCN, which is a PVD coating like DLC, but not quite as good for wear and corrosion resistance. Still pretty great IME.

Wish it were just G10 so it would be a bit cheaper, but it had me at Cruwear.
