This forum often discusses and debates the balance Spyderco must strike between developing new models, and releasing existing models in new steel or handle material and color combinations. While there are spirited proponents and good arguments on both sides, personally the only satisfactory response to me as an individual has been to "vote with my wallet."

So, how did the rest of the forum "vote" this year - how many new to you Spyderco models did you purchase that aren't just variations of something you already own?

For this poll I'm not just asking about 2024 releases - any Spyderco models you acquired in 2024 that you've not owned before in any other blade shape or blade or handle material or color/coating counts. Even if it's discontinued now, go ahead and count it if it's the first time you've owned that model.

My vote - 3. UKPK, Bodacious, and Stretch 2 XL were my new models for this year.

New to me models made up 50% of my purchases, along with three in models I've previously owned (2 Endelas, 1 Manix 2).

Almost all of these are old models. Old but new to me.

two I believe. Military 2 and Chief LW.

The three Spyderco knives I bought this year were new to me: Lil'Temperance 3 (K390), Catcherman and Stretch XL (PD#1).

Of what I acquired in 2024 - 16 models that were "new to me" in 2024. Only three of those were new models from 2024.

Five for me, but includes FRN LW versions as being new a G-10 counterparts.

1. Manix 2 LW MagnaCut
2. Endela K390 PE
3. Para 3 LW 15V
4. Shaman PE XHP
5. Chaparral LW SE XHP

Eleven for me. Five of them were new, 6 were discos.

Of course, this made me come face to face with my TOTAL number for the year so ima go read up on self control and addiction...

I think that crucarta Millie 2 is my next one. I keep thinking about how awesome it'd look with the scales dyed army green and a nice patina formed on the blade.

How's yours treating you?

Native Chief LW and Lil Temperance 3 LW, unless I am forgetting something. Both SE of course.

7-8. It is hard to keep track of what year I bought it in, but I just go back and look at pics.

I rarely buy duplicates, so most of what I get is new to me. I like to use each model I get to see what works and what doesn't for me.

i had some issues with mine, actually. the screws were stripped on the clip when i tried switching it to tip up. when i say they were stripped, i mean the threads and that it came that way. i had to send it back to spyderco. they returned it to me tip down, so i'm not sure if its the same knife or not and i'm kind of afraid to do any further disassembly to it.

other than that, it's pretty great. it will never beat the manix for me, except for in length, but i'm not sure anything will. at this point though, the manix(es), mil2, and yojumbo are the main rotation.

Just one new model for me. Got me a Lil Native. Great fifth pocket knife but still has a decent amound of blade.

Sixteen, namely: SpyMyto, Bodacious, Tuff, Temperance, Junior, Jumpmaster, Bow River, Stretch 2 XL, Moran, Enuff 2, Leafjumper, Waterway, Catcherman, Schempp Rock, Cat, Microjimbo.

At this point I like chasing down discontinued models as I have already have enough Native 5, Endela, and Manix 2 variants for my needs. I will however still try to acquire these current production models if they come out in a configuration I really like.

Catcherman Salt sprint, Delica PD1N sprint, Ladybug Salt Hawkbill Serrated, Dragonfly Salt PE, Para 3 Micarta Cruwear

4 for me, counting the G-10 Bug and Grasshopper as new models. The other 2 were the Roadie XL and a waved Matriarch.

Coincidentally it is a big year for new Spyderco models for me-- all of the purchases were new-to-me models. Police4, Endela, Leaf Jumper, Temperance fixed blade, large Throwers and small Throwers.

If my memory is correct, all new models to me in 2024…..
