I've owned dozens of the Seki made Spyders since 1995 or so. Absolutely the best carry knife and my all time favorite. Just got interested in what they offer now and it's really sad and sobering to see they have to go the Chinese route to stay competitive, but thats the world we're in now. So I ordered a pair of Cara Cara 2 and was pretty impressed with the quality when they arrived. However, I only ordered this particular model because Spyderco says you can swap the clip for tip down carry...I won't own a knife without that since my first one (I still have it) in 1995. So I got out the Torx kit and swapped the clip on one...wait a minute, the base of the clip will not seat correctly...one screw is bottoming out on the blade...it's too long and you can tell this because the blade will no longer flip open smoothly like it did with the clip in a tip up mount. Are you kidding me? WOW! How the **** can this be? Anyway, I am sending them back to Spyderco and will probably just buy another Tenacious which I ordered along with the Cara Cara. (It's already set up for tip down carry) Don't get me wrong, the Cara Cara is very nice and if you don't mind tip up carry, you won't have to swap the clip. But I don't think the engineering review on this was very good. The statement that you can swap the clip into any of the the other 3 positions is not really true. Anyone else notice this?

Before going through all the trouble to package the knife up and send it back, you might want to contact Spyderco and ask them to send you out the correct set of screws.

A disappointment to be sure. Ya' know, if it's just one screw, you might just sand it down a bit to make it work?

Went to the SPYDERCO factory store today and they took care of everything: Told Jason Cronk about the issue with the screws being too long. He confirmed that yes that could be a problem. So he took the knives and spent about 40 minutes fitting both of them with the correct screw lengths and reversed the clip for me. Clips are setup point down and one can correctly draw from pocket and flip them open. He even sharpened up the brand new blades and lubed the pivots. Jason and SPYDERCO ARE AWESOME! And, like a kid in a candy store I picked up two TENATIOUS models - one the G10 with Aluminum bolsters and the other LW with plastic- Tip down already...I am really happy. Was like going to Disneyland with unlimited rides.
BTW if you have not had the opportunity to visit the factory store here is the bonus. It's a living history museum of Spyderco knife history. You will love it. AND, prices on every model are about 10-20% cheaper than online. Even made the wife happy with purchase of some nice poultry shears (made by Wustoff). It was a good day!
